Unchained Summoner for Pathfinder Society build help

I'm working on building my first Pathfinder Society character, an Unchained Summoner. Now I'm not looking for how to make "THE MOST AWESOME" character, just help on optimizing the current concept.

Short version is, his eidolon has been encouraging him to become a "hero" most of his life. With that in mind he wants to at least skirmish on the front lines with his Eidolon. If you are curious about the specific's of his story you can read his backstory here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17cWFo1BW3yOTNh3Ll1UQX7J_5ZhqEZpiMP5PRXI FlDI/edit?usp=sharing

Current Build:
Human Unchained Summoner

STR 17
DEX 14
CON 12
INT 14 (needed to represent his scholarly background)
WIS 7
CHA 14

Skill Ranks: Knowledges (Arcana, History, Local, Planes), Linguistics, Spellcraft
Traits: Arcane Temper, ???

Feats: Martial Prof (Longsword), ???

Eidolon: Protean with Reach on his bite attack currently (and picking weapon finesse as it's feat, because... snakey)

Equipment: Longsword, Studded Leather, ???

Spells:
0 - Acid Splash, Detect Magic, Light, Guidance
1 - Shield, Lesser Rejuvenate Eidolon (will be retrained later)

So that's what I have so far. At level 3 I plan on both the character and Eidolon picking up Precise Strike teamwork feat.

For level 1, I'm still looking for options for his second trait and his second feat. Also advice on his choices would be nice. For spells I plan on mostly learning buff spells so I'm not super concerned with save DCs.

Currently at feats, I'm looking at Arcane Strike (for flavor) and Extra Evolution as possible options, but I'm open for more options. If I do go with Extra Evolution, what would be good options (considering Improved natural armor or increasing bite damage die).

Still looking for build advice if anyone has any thoughts. To clarify, I have access to most of the hardcover books (Core, Advanced Players Guide, Advanced Race Guide, Advanced Class Guide, Unchained, All of the Ultimates, Occult Adventures, and Horror Adventures), Inner Sea World Guide, the harrow handbook, and Legacies of Dragons.

I am not a big fan of the idea of making a melee summoner. They do get buff spells but you will find great difficulty in making up for shared magic items slots and real lack of focus towards being in melee which can make for a dead character.

If the concept is important there are other classes, the Chosen One Archetype revolves around this concept and you can end up with a tough near unkillable Medium sized high strength Arbiter familiar as it can retain the mauler archetype, you get it through a class feature, not the improved familiar feat.

If you want to stick with this I would suggest a mounted build and play the knight role, you put some distance between you and the bad guys and the lance damage multipliers don't care for bab progression, you get them regardless.

If it were me, I'd swap Dex and Con. I wouldn't spend a feat for weapon proficiency - instead, I'd consider using a longspear and taking Combat Reflexes. Using a reach weapon would improve your survivability IMHO.

At some point you should take the Resilient Eidolon reat so your companion doesn't disappear immediately when you drop unconscious. You can have your Eidolon carry a Cure potion to revive you before the duration runs out.

PCScipio,

Thanks that was exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. I was originally pretty set on longswords for fluff reasons, but you made a really good point about the longswords.

Also Resilient Eidolon does seem like a no brainer. I can't believe I missed it.

I still need to figure out a second trait to take, but I will honestly probably just pick something fluffy at this point.

Precise Strike is my plan for my Lvl 3 feat. Then I am thinking maybe escape route at 5/6 for the Rudolph and character.
