Catfolk and Tail Blades

Rules Questions

Can a Catfolk use a tail blade and if so does it count as a natural or manufactured weapon?

If I'm not mistaken Catfolk tails are Not prehensile. Even the Vanara, who do have a prehensile tail, do not have the ability to wield a weapon with it. Only the kobold or ratfolk seem to have tail attachments they can specifically use, and even then, the Kobold seems to require a feat.

I'd argue "No, they cannot". Soft and fluffy non-prehensile tails are not meant for battle. They're designed to tickle noses and make deviant gestures.

But other then having the tail blades ratfolk dont have anything saying that they have prehensile tails

Right. Ratfolk and Catfolk both have their origins in the Advanced Race Guide. Ratfolk have tail blades on their page, in the PRD. Catfolk do not.

I would think if Catfolk were meant to have tail blades, it would be included there.

ok thank you

Look on the bright side. Your Catfolk can smear a scent on solid environment or objects that only it can decipher easily, even without the Scent ability. Screw Arcane marks or visible messages; Smear the "Food" scent on a halfling's helmet...

EDIT: Also, you can claw their eyes out.

And Catfolk have claw blades, do they not?

They do! The kitties even have a magic, keen version of them which essentially grant them the ability to Rend...

Still, I can understand the original poster's wishes. It's always nice to have a light weapon you can use regardless of what you're holding in (Or recently had disarmed from) your hands. This is especially true if it's not dependent on your armor, nor requires your conscious decision to equip them before battle. (Though, not sure if I'd sleep with a dagger attached to my butt... )

I wish I knew how often these races were played in PFS. If ever I join, I'd love to know if I can bring in my fox-shaped Kitsune, or a sleep venom'd Vishkanya...

Odd, we had this 'go 'round' a few weeks back. Most came to the view that no cat would sully the magnificence of their tail with a lowly weapon. The more literal went with the 'not in the book' and 'no cat in our reality' points.

Moments after one 'girl' made a point about it being a communication device, the dominant cat of the house came slinking through the room, rubbing against everyone before sitting in front of the Chick-fil-A eating target to DEMAND her tribute, tail twitching her absolute right to his nuggets!
