Introducing New Players

Advice

So, a friend of mine recently bought Rise of the Runelords, and has decided to GM for me and a few friends. Everyone is new to playing the game, but I have studied the game a lot, so I know how the rules work. I am afraid that my GM isn't doing the best he can to introduce the new players, and everyone is getting very confused. Most of the players still don't know how to play the game, and I also think that it is important to introduce everyone to Golarion.

I just found out about these forums and I thought, who better to ask than the endless masses of the Paizo Community? Long story short, I need a quick and simple way to introduce Pathfinder and Golarion to the players. Our first session is on Saturday, so I don't have much time.

The "go to" answer is for you guys to take a step back from the full rule set (which is extensive) and try out the Beginner Box first. It is a somewhat simplified version of the rules in a sleek delivery that allows new players to adjust to the concepts of the d20 system and the nuances of Pathfinder.

If you don't want to go that route, you'll need to have a candid conversation with your friend GM, preferably out of game so he/she doesn't feel embarrassed. Explain that his/her delivery is confusing the players and a more balanced approached is necessary. Since you feel more comfortable with the rules maybe you could even offer to GM a quick "learning time" adventure for the group before you all take the plunge into a full adventure path.
