5 Paladin Multiclass Characters (You'll Never Expect)

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I never used to play paladins, but the longer I've played Pathfinder, the more the class has grown on me. However, I'm also incapable of playing a single class character. So I thought I'd put together a list of what I think are some of the more useful, and more unexpected, paladin multiclass characters. And, since I put it together, I figured I'd share it with folks and see if anyone had played through these combinations to get their stories, or to provide some fodder for folks looking to do something different.

Another really interesting (in my opinion) Paladin is Sohei Monk 1/ Paladin X. Since Sohei can use flurry while wearing mithral medium armor, you're free to benefit from flurry of blows without needing wisdom. Furthermore, since Paladin gets Channel Energy, they can pick up Crusader's Flurry with their deity's weapon. A Paladin/Sohei can even pick up Dervish Dance and flurry a scimitar while benefiting from high DEX and mithral medium armor.

The Sohei can wear armor but it never states they can use their monk abilities while wearing armor. In fact in the base monk they state they lose their abilities wearing armor. Unless there is a correction made elsewhere wearing armor you lose all your abilities wearing any armor even if mithral.

PallyBloodrager (as noted in the article) and PallySorcerer are both their own kinds of fun.

That the Sohei may use Flurry of Blows while wearing light armor was made official by an FAQ:

Monk, Sohei: Can a sohei use flurry of blows while wearing light armor?

Yes (but not medium or heavy armor). However, a sohei does not gain his monk AC bonus class feature when wearing armor.

The next printing of Ultimate Combat will be changed to reflect this ruling.

Since mithral medium counts as light for class abilities, Sohei can flurry in mithral medium armor.

Didn't know makes them multiclasses with Cavaliers a bit better.

It's kind of funny how well they'll multiclass with a lot of things, since you can tack-on 'flurry with a Monk weapon' to pretty much any melee character with just a single Sohei level.

I've done Bloodrager/Paladin (well, Bloodrager/Monk/Paladin) with a celestial bloodline and had fun with it. Likewise with Paladin/Swashbuckler.

Haven't personally played a Paladin/Rogue (though I've stats for a Fighter/Paladin/Rogue kicking around in a folder somewhere), but the title ensured that it was the first combination that I expected.

I've got a Swash 5/ Paladin n-5 in my Carrion Crown game that's been working out quite well. Even better once he got the bracers that improve Lay on Hands.

Paladin-Bloodrager into Dragon Disciple is fun, IMO.
