(armour/2)+enhancement
In general, magic armor protects the wearer to a greater extent than nonmagical armor. Magic armor bonuses are enhancement bonuses, never rise above +5, and stack with regular armor bonuses (and with shield and magic shield enhancement bonuses).
There is a distinction drawn between armour bonus and enhancement bonus to armour.
I would expect to see an "including any enhancement bonus" clause if it included enhancement bonus.| Anonymous Warrior |
I'm in agreement with dragonhunterq, and disagree with ryric.
If you gave a +2 Natural Armor Enhancement Amulet, it would increase the wearer's natural armor by 2, regardless of if they were the Pixie King or Mecrocolis, Lord of the Black Dragons. For consistencies sake, I'd thus say that if either of them wore a +2 Chainmail shirt, then they would each receive different "armor" bonuses, while receiving the same +2 armor enhancement.

Well the bonuses on magic armor and shields are both enhancements, but they stack. I see too ways to interpret this, they stack by virtue of the above quoted text, esception to stacking rules stated, move on. Or, the enhancement bonus is not to AC but to the bonus granted by the armor or shield. If the second is true, I can see how it would be halved for smurf armor.
Not sure how any of this really helps, now that I have written it out.
brock, no the other one...

I think I disagree with dragonhunterq - enhancement bonuses to armor add to the armor bonus - so a +4 chain shirt would have an armor bonus of +8, which would be halved for a Tiny creature.
If it's next to a table of mundane armour, I'd interpret it as divide the amor bonus given in this table by 2.
The enhancement bonus does increase the armour bonus, but it is not itself an armour bonus.

So if you have a pixie in magic armor, is that (armor+enhancement)/2 or (armor/2) +enhancement ?
You're not asking for a pixie though, are you now?
I've usually just tried to avoid asking by instead making do with just a wand of mage armor. I'd lean in favour of the "Enhancement bonuses count in full" camp, but there's enough room for other interpretations it's definitely worth flagging for clarification.
