Improved Familiar Tattooed sorcerer

Rules Questions

Hi all, I have a question for you.

is it possible for the improved familiar of a tattooed sorcerer to transform itself into a tattoo just like a normal familiar? if it is possible, how it works with the curse on the rest location of the liminal sprites?

Yes, they can turn into a tattoo. They are no different from a normal familiar and gain the benefit of the feature.

The curse, though, would be up to DM fiat, but since the sprite does not count as a separate creature, it either doesn't have to worry about the curse, or so long as it is tattoo'd, you suffer from the curse. Hopefully your DM doesn't rule for the latter.

Curse conditions are satisfied if you're outside. The sprite isn't in a building or out in the open. (Tents also seem to work even without the tattoo, interestingly enough.) That should allow your familiar plenty of rest while you travel, and let it keep watch whenever you're at an inn.

thank you both, much appreciated!
