Ok, taking another look at this archetype and wanted to get another perspective.
Looking at it, if my Vigilante chooses Pilo for his animal form, at level two he just looks kind of like the animal at level 2, and gets the Agathion Blessing natural weapon.
At level 4 he beast shapes into an actual Pilo, gaining the natural attacks of the animal as well any abilities on the beast shape 1 list that the animal has, but does not get the stat bonus. He does get to keep all his equipment though.
At level 8 he gets all that, plus either 2 abilities from the beast shape 1 list or 1 ability from the beast shape 2 list. It looks like these don't have to be abilities the animal chosen actually posesses. So pounce is on the table now. Is that right?
I want this archetype to work, so I just want to make sure I'm reading it right.
It doesn't explicitly state it, but the level 8 ability is an extension of the level 4 ability - they're both part of Bestial Identity. I'd expect that turning into some form of armadillo wouldn't give you the ability to fly or pounce.
