How does Elemental whispers interact with other classes? Say I take a Level of wizard At level 7, do they stack and if so. can I take improved familiar now counting as a 7th level to take other Improved Familiar options?
Also are Archetypes available to your Elemental Whisper familiar? I know most every familiar archetype requires the replacement or modification of "Speak with animals of its kind" which Elemental Whisper Familiars don't have.
Can I take an Familiar Archetype with the level of wizard and it still affect the Elemental Whispers levels?(Obviously if I take the level of wizard first)

This would mean that only Emissary, Sage and technically the School Familiar(If you multiclass) are the only Archetypes you can take. As such, is that how they would interact? Could you count your levels of Kineticist for qualifying for level dependent familiar feats? I have no doubt having this alone would not qualify as having the "familiar class feature", as Elemental Whispers does not mention giving this ability, that most other feats require.

What book is elemental whispers in? What's it do?
Its from Horror Adventures. Elemental Whispers is a 1st level utility talent that gives kineticists a basic elemental 'familiar' and the usual benefits from having one. Greater Elemental Whispers is a 3rd level utility talent that gives the kineticist the benefits of Improved Familiar feat to get a small elemental or wysp of one of her elements.

Interesting. Now that I've had a chance to read it, I've got to say I'm just more confused. I can't tell if it qualifies as a familiar at all when not manifested, or even enough of one when it does in order to take an archetype... Though it is eventually referred to being a familiar rather than being LIKE a familiar, when they discuss manifesting. Would I be right in thinking that even mental skills like knowledges, and perhaps things like perception, would be unavailable for it to use unless you took a standard action and concentration to manifest it?
I'd be interested in Sage archetype, if that works, but it'd be good to know if I'd need to use an action to get it to manifest before it could knowledge things. For that matter, I'm a bit unsure how a Sage (who supposedly loves telling its master all it knows) of any familiar is supposed to do its job prior to Speak with Master.

You'd have to take Elemental Whispers at 1st level, to even take a Familiar Archetype if you could. I'd personally like to hear this subject discussed more, to see why people would disagree or agree. I for one think you should be able to take a Familiar Archetype with Kineticists, but you'd have to do it at 1st level like I said.

One of the things that I hadn't noticed until recently is that when manifested you lose Alertness, so if your DM does allow the Sage Archetype it would retain the Intelligence boost would possibly lose Sage's Knowledge when manifested (whether you'd switch Sage's Knowledge for the master's skill ranks would be debatable)
As for whether the familiar would have any senses when not manifested it has been asked on Mark's thread. (In which he said no)
Though if the familiar doesn't have any senses when not manifested then you'd have to explain how the familiar is giving it's master Alertness...
For myself fluff wise, I see the familiar when not manifested as being connected to some greater source of information for Sage's Knowledge (whether it's the akashic, an elemental lord or whatever), and when it's manifested it's disconnected from that source of information and it loses Sage's Knowledge until returned.. So if you want it to see something you pop it out to check things out then unmanifest it so it can consult it's source (similar to Commune)
Depending on if you allow Telepathic Bond (Permanency) to convey enough information to allow skills then you wouldn't need to pop out and in.

Looked at the Emissary and Cleric Domains, and a question came to mind about taking it with Elemental Whispers.
When can it use its Domain power? I think only when manifested, because some of the domain powers would only work with it manifested, The Nobility Domain for example. It makes more sense when manifested in my opinion. Makes it more balanced and thematically appropriate.
