Afraid of the Dark

Advice

I have an idea for a character that is afraid of the dark due to a traumatic experience as a child, so he has trained himself to make light to fight the darkness.

So far my thoughts are to be an elf lamplighter investigator with the lightbringer and shadowhunter racial traits. For traits, forlorn (elf trait) and grief filled (social trait). I also found the shadowscarred drawback, but I wish it had more to it (I might just be a masochist though). I also thoughthat if I am going to be carrying torches anyways, I would just take the torch fighter feat.

Is there anything else that I could do that is flavorful?

Well since you're an elf you could take the Lantern Bearer prestige class.

If I do end up doing that, it makes my lamplighter stuff redundant. Is there anything that goes well with both my theme and the prestige class? I do like the idea though, thanks!

Perhaps a Divine Tracker archetype for Ranger. Then choose Sun as one of your domains. Besides that I am not sure. Though I guess a Warpriest works to.

There is an alternate racial trait for aasimars that would fit if you hadn't already gone for another race. The aasimar that I am currently playing turns on her halo whenever she cannot see clearly.

Divine tracker seems good. It seems like that is actually the best possible thing for me. Maybe stack it with skirmisher so I don't have to worry about non light based spells. I also won't be ruling out aasimars, but I think elf has more potential.

Warpriest of lalaci could also be fun and awkward. Sling is the favored weapon, so using a sling at 1d6 seems silly (1d8 by the time I prestige)
