Season 8 Guild Guide and Craft (gunsmithing)

My question is...

Ranks assigned to Craft skills are used only to perform Day Job checks, not to craft mundane items, with the following exceptions.

• Alchemists can use Craft (alchemy).
• Gunslingers can use Craft (gunsmithing).
• Investigators can use Craft (gunsmithing).

What does THAT mean? I mean, it clearly says that gunslingers can use the Craft (gunsmithing) skill to craft mundane items, which logically would imply firearms and ammo. The thing is that crafting these are supposed to be the purview of the Gunsmithing feat, don't require skill checks, is done at a different price point than the Craft skill (half price for weapons and alchemical cartridges, tenth price for basic ammo and black powder, vs third price for Craft), and per the Campaign Clarifications document, PFS gunslingers don't craft, they buy at a discount.

This definitely needs some clarifications; can gunslingers actually craft mundane gear via Craft (gunsmithing) skill checks? If so, what can they craft, and what are the DCs?

I would add "as described in the FAQ / AR" to the end of that section.

(Alchemists can use Craft Alchemy to get alchemical concoctions at 1/3 price as in the FAQ. Gunslingers can use Craft Gunsmithing for cheap ammo as per the AR)

Except, as I said, crafting firearms and ammo is part of the Gunsmithing feat, not a function of the Craft skill. Also, the Campaign Clarifications document (and formerly the Additional Resources page) explicitly calls out that in PFS, Gunsmithing does not allow you to craft anything, but instead gives you a discount on the purchase of ammunition (but not firearms), allowing you to purchase them at the stated crafting cost.

I brought this up because this is literally the first time Craft (gunsmithing) has been introduced.

I thought Gunslingers used Craft(Alchemy) for that purpose.

Also investigators should have Craft (alchemy) listed. The gun-totin' Steel Hound investigator archetype isn't even PFS legal, don't see why they or even gunslinger/investigator multiclassed characters would all of a sudden be crafting things with that skill when even gunslingers don't. Heck even gunslingers would have 1 rank in Craft (alchemy) over anything else to get discounted alchemical ammo.

Gunslingers can purchase alchemical cartridges at half price (not one third), but only if they have at least one rank in Craft (alchemy), per the Campaign Clarification of the Gunsmithing feat. They cannot actually use the skill to craft ammo.

According to the Season 8 Guide a Gunslinger can now use Craft(Gunsmithing) to make items.

Additionally and similarly;
The Alchemist can make Alchemical items using the Craft(Alchemy) skill.

The Investigator can use Craft(Gunsmithing) to make items. <I agree that this should be Craft(Alchemy)...>

That said, I hope this is in error, and will be corrected...

Otherwise, I have a lvl 1 Musket Master that needs to start working on his collections of firearms...

It would be nice, after the team has had a chance to breathe, hydrate and sleep, if all of the firearm ammunition costs could be codified in the PFS FAQ (or the Campaign Clarifications document).

Although I love having people link to my post, it'd really be more appropriate if they were presented in a more official format.
