I need a little clarification on having multiple humanoid subtypes..

Rules Questions

Hi all,

I've been thinking about this for around an hour and I've obviously confused myself to the point of thinking gibberish. So I'm throwing it out here so that someone can set me straight (and hopefully provide why).

Lets say Doug starts out as a type:humanoid and subtype human. He has a particularly bad run in with an elven alchemist, some dubious potions and a night he'd rather not remember and suddenly he wakes up with the addition subtype, elf. He doesn't lose his human subtype, but gains an additional one.

What exactly does he gain? Is it just the low-light vision or does he gain any of the racial traits that elves get (since the elf subtype is defined by its racial traits).

Now lets say that Doug has another bad night with some dubious looking pale women and he wakes up as a vampire! (He really needs to check into AA). Now he's acquired the vampire template. Which means his type is undead and his subtypes are human, elven.

I believe I am correct at this point in just adding things as listed here and not taking anythign away (unless explicitly stated, like the CON score).

He doesn't get low-light vision or any other racial traits. He can now qualify to take Elf-only feats, take Elf-only archetypes, or select Elf-only race traits. If he is a caster, he could get access to Elf-only spells.

Cool. Thanks.

I would argue that he does gain low-light vision:

Elf Subtype: This subtype is applied to elves and creatures related to elves. Creatures with the elf subtype have low-light vision.

But I agree that he doesn't get anything else except through qualification and interaction as an elf.

Oh, that's what Wszebor Uriev meant. I stand corrected.

Scarab Sages

He is also now vulnerable to bane:elf weapons, favored enemy:elf, and anything else that triggers off the elf subtype.

Sorry for the confusion... :) and thanks for the reminder about all the weaknesses too :)
