... and if the latter, when?
Geas.
Just checked it out on the PRD and it, too, has been altered to match.
So, just to check, the old version, from 3.5 did almost exactly what I thought - I just thought it had a one-year-time limit to the thing, instead of the "1 day/level" effect.
Has PF always had the "like lesser, only stronger" geas, or was that some sort of errata that was hidden in somewhere that I missed?
Don't get me wrong - over-all, I actually welcome this change, but... I'm just really thrown off by having been so very wrong about PF's version of geas.

Maybe... I always thought of it as a single year-long effect that had the chance of reversal via special limited spells or effects (I'd at least been presuming something like break enchantment or similar, and certainly limited wish, could get rid of it); but I'm just positively stumped at when the change(s?) occurred - both in ability penalty and in duration (if, indeed, that was a change).
I feel very confused. Certainly makes the plot of Hordes of the Underdark weirder than it was already, for example. Still, I over-all support the change. It's just... I was caught by surprise.
EDIT: Ninja'd!
I just double-checked my "first print" copy of the Core Rulebook and geas has had the same duration as lesser geas since the beginning of PFRPG.
Thank you!
I am very confused about my errant duration. Oh, well, at least that mystery is solved! Does it have the same debilitating effect?
