The Spell Commune (Flavor question)

Advice

I am curious as to how others role play the use of the Commune Spell. Does your GM respond to your characters questions to her deity as if the Deity speaks audibly allowed, or does the deity answer the characters questions within the characters own mind?

The reason I ask, is that I am playing an oracle (Deaf curse). When using this spell my GM is telling me that the Deity answers my commune spell audibly, but because I have the the deaf curse I cannot hear the response. Thoughts?

Honestly out of the times I've used the spells the dm has never discribed how my god was communicating with me, now I don't know your dm but if your the only one who hears the answer and you can't hear it because of your deaf thing I would be upset, I mean your talking to a GOD I would have the god answer telepathically so there's no confusion

It depends :)

Usually a voice in the air or mind, or a clear sign instead of words, maybe even a vision (be it hologram or in the mind) will work. I never let the god appear and talk to the caster, though, mostly for RP reasons.

The spell is intended to give the player information, so that is what he gets in some form he can use. Preferably only the caster gets the information, though.
As the spell is normally restricted to a yes/no format, it is easily possible to give it different flavors. For example the priest can use a bag with black and white stones, out of which he draws blindly to get his yes/no.
