Xanth in my estimation has been little more than a series of books looking for new excuses for bad puns. Which is a shame as Anthony once wrote some damm hard fiction in the OX series. Nor am I particurlarly interested in any new incarnation of the Tippyverse.

What is generally one of the first things they tell people taking a writing class, write about what you know because it can quickly become apparent to someone who does know something about your subject that you do not.

One example of an author you might know Kate Elliott, who often in the front of her books often talks about studding this or that and how it influenced her writing.

The straw man was there for a purpose especially if you did not realize it was so and was to prove a point that if you do not know a bit about what you write of you can make statements that do not fit or make any sense.

Yes, every settlement has spellcasters. When u have 300+ gods that's a lot of cleric pushing their cause, so every settlement will have a divine caster. With just an hours work a day that's as much water as that settlement needs.
The whole economy falls to bits if settlements don't have spellcasters because adventurers wouldn't go there!

So yeah, no trying to fit real world stuff as everything starts to fall down.
