Hello fellow forumites, I have been considering building a gnome barbarian or bloodrager, but I do not want to feel too weak - I somehow both like playing relatively nontraditional picks and dislike feeling underpowered. I noticed that halflings have some interesting options for being better in melee, in particular via risky striker. Is there something like that for gnomes? I do not want to be reliant on a GM, although I imagine most would not have a huge issue with extending the feat to other small races.

I don't know about Risky Striker. Power Attack still doesn't scale down with Size. Also, I like Sneak Attacking. That doesn't scale down with Size, either. I like locking in Sneak Attack Damage with the Dirty Trick Combat Maneuver. Make your opponent Blind, and there is no more Dex Bonus, and you get your Sneak Attack Damage. Use a Blunt Weapon, and take Sap Adept and Sap Master feats, and Double Damage is the new Word of the Day. Another way I like getting Sneak Attack Damage is via the Ninja Vanishing Trick. I also like the idea of taking 1 level in Arcanist and taking Dimensional Hop, securing your ability to Flank, and getting your SAD that way. I like gaining Sneak Attack Damage via levels in Ninja, of course, but it sounds like your character will not be a PFS character, and that opens the door for Vivisectionist Alchemist. Alchemist makes a lot of sense for a Gnome.
I've always been interested in the Gnome Hooked Hammer as a Weapon: a Double Weapon, both Blunt and Piercing, and a Trip Weapon. But cruel irony: you can't Trip an opponent who is more than 2 sizes bigger than you, and when you are a Gnome, that's a lot of people. But ther is a way. The Harder they Fall Feat. It's a Teamwork Feat, and your Teammate has to Aid Another for you. So take a couple of levels in Eldritch Guardian Fighter. That will give you a Familiar that knows all the Combat Feats you know, including many Teamwork Feats such as Harder they Fall. Make your Familiar a Mauler Familiar, and use it as a mount (not a Mount). You'll be like Sir Didymous on the back of his dog, staring down by the full muster of the Goblin army, and saying, "If you surrender now, I promise you will be decently treated."

Well - it's a bit convoluted, but I do see one way to take advantage of a gnome only feat.
Go Arcane Bloodrager 4/Brawler (Snakebite Striker) 1 and then eventually grab Moonlight Stalker Feint & Tantrum.
It's rather feat intensive, but eventually you would be able to Feint as a swift action whenever you're raging.
