So Guarded Life looks like it makes Diehard feat really useless. It actually cancels it out. Actually, it makes Diehard a HINDRANCE.

First, say you are at 5 hp and get hit for 10. With Diehard, you're at -5 and still conscious, continuing to fight the good fight.

If you're raging and have Guarded Life (let's say you're Level 10), if you take the 10 damage with the same 5 hp, dropping below 0 kicks on Guarded Life. So instead of being at -5 hp, you are now still at 5 hp, but you now have 10 nonlethal damage.

You are now knocked unconscious. Diehard says nothing about remaining conscious if you suffer Nonlethal damage over your current hit points.

In effect, Guarded Life + Diehard is...never something to combine. Ever. In fact, Guarded Life LOCKS you from ever bothering with Diehard (or similar effects like Ferocity).

Something is wrong with this picture and I am surprised Paizo hasn't fixed this yet. They need to adjust Diehard feat or say something about Nonlethal damage in situations like this. It's been wayyyyy overdue.
