So lately i had a few folks on my you tube channel ask me...
how do I hand out treasure in my games. I figured i would put together a quick video showing how I handle treasure.
I like it. Have seen this done on Dicestormers, and Matt M passes out magic item cards in Critical role.
I think I'm going to start doing this, my kids will love it.
PS: love the dungeon tiles. I started making my own a couple weeks ago. Just halls, rooms and some doors at this point, but I started looking at wall sections last night after last weekends gaming sessions.
Pics here.

Maybe one of these days I'll get back to in-person GMing instead of just PbP GMing. I'll have to keep some of these ideas in mind.
If you went old-school and made it PbMail...you could mail a bag of mock doubloons :-). I never did it, but had some friends who did a few of those back in college.

I hand out item cards. Players love it! It gives them something to look over and think about before they get a chance to identify them. I even have a few special ones set to the side that each player gets back to represent their special personal artifacts. It's a lot like the trophy system in computer games.

I'm going to make some home-made coin and trade bars with washers and metallic paint, just to see how they look. its the "effect" of that bag clinking down on the table, and opening it up to see what is all inside that is fun anyway. I'll post some photos when done.
Sure, time is money, but I already have a pretty good collection of different sized washers out in my shop, and metallic spray paint is pretty cheap.
I'm thinking with a little prep I can also make some stencils to spice them up. IE the symbol of Tar, the kingdom they're in right now is two leaping dolphins (its the major port and ship building city), the party has already found platinum trade-bars (property of the government) that was stamped with the leaping dolphin insignia, so the prop would be fitting.
