Simulating 6th sense as a racial trait

Hi,

I have an idea for a homebrew race and I want it to have an extra sensory perception. My thought is to have a racial or insight bonus to one or more of the following: Perception, Initiative, and/or Sense Motive. Also the possibility of a dodge bonus to AC.

Conceptually the race doesn't like or prefer heavy or medium armor and the prefer classes such as psions, scouts, and unarmed martial artists. I could have a racial hindrance of avoiding medium and heavy armors.

So thought I'd ask if anyone had any ideas to simulate the concept I'm working on.

So something as powerful as Improved Initiative, or much less where the Armor Check penalty could conceivably negate the bonus entirely? Or maybe even turn it into an initiative penalty?


Could also try using the Sift cantrip as a spell-like ability. It's a cantrip, so at-will isn't outrageous, but 3/day is also standardish.

My spidey senses are tingling...

That may be a bit powerful though, and Uncanny Dodge typically has a level element to it, due to the way it can combine with the Improved version.


Whenever I GM a character with Uncanny Dodge, I have always interpreted it as a 6th Sense.

Perhaps use that but tack on some additional caveats along with it?

Anticipate thoughts as a spell-like ability once per day could work pretty well for a more classic ESP over precognition.

The "prefers light or no armor" can be for several reasons, but the "simplest" could be racial stat modifiers of -2 Str, +2 Int, and +2 Wis (and Medium size).

Bonus to initiative, never flat-footed, can always act in surprise round, dodge bonus to armor and/or reflex saves, etc... you've basically covered all the bases already :)
