Divine lightning

Advice

Hello all,
I need help on fleshing out the concept of a paladin of a LN deity of electricity and technology (homebrew setting). Outside of the druid list, what are my options to get lighting spells on a paladin?

I can think of no way for a Paladin to cast lightning spells. Without multiclassing.

I was going to suggest a dip into Magus for those shenanigans, but since you are wanting to learn more into technology, I'm not sure how that fits your backstory. The only other option is maybe look into the Pure Steam setting, and pull inspiration from there?

Otherwise, hope you have an arcane caster that can write scrolls on your team or in your pocket, and buy into UMD.

You could get Divine Trident spell with Unsanctioned Knowledge feat, but that's not much. It deals electric damage, but it's kinda not great.

The deities from Golarion grant their followers the ability to cast certain spells that you can't find in the standard spell list. (Gods and Magic mentions this, as well as various adventurepaths.) You could give that god of electricity and technology something similar. Or you could turn [fire] spells into [lightning] spells.

Eldritch heritage (storborn) will let you apply the shock property to weapons and eventuall call lightning bolts.

Wouldn't the easiest option just be to classify the deities holy offensive abilities as "lightning" instead of "positive"? Or hell, make it positive that behaves like lightning. Homebrew setting means homebrew rules :D

Oh, also... look in the Advanced Race Guide. STONELORD is a paladin archetype that is effectively an earth-based paladin. You can use that as a template and make the abilities more air appropriate.

This is probably the best solution, right here, to toss into the bottom of the deity write-up that Paladins of LightningBro can use the following spells as Paladin spells (shocking grasp, divine trident, lightning bolt). You could even tweak divine trident to take on the form of the deity's favored weapon.

Thanks for all the ideas! I'll probably go with Deity-specific spells and/or eldritch heritage.
