So I'm building a wizard and starting off at a higher level. I would stick pure wizard, but some of my levels are like bonus levels that I have to invest in something other than my main class, so I wanted to put those in either bloodmage or cyphermage, since they continue my spellcasting progression without any hiccups.
Wondering which is better..
I'm currently a level 6 wizard with 3 bonus levels. Picked conjuration(teleportation) as my school. The DM said I am fine to ignore the corpulence ability in bloodmage if I pick it. I have 3 +ac items so I would probably take his offer if I went that way.
So that means bloodmage would for the most part only give me extra spell slots. I think i'd be too chicken to use the bloodsurge on fear of flipping out.
Cyphermage has nothing crazy good as far as i can tell, but some useful stuff like the free scrolls.
Any opinions?
Edit: Also I don't need to meet the feat or skill requirements for the bonus levels

Bloodmage without the drawbacks sounds amazing, but if you're too put off by the risk, check out Magaambyan Arcanist. Adds a little spontaneity to your casting, and you can poach spells from the Druid list (albeit two levels lower than your max).

My character is lawful evil, so the arcanist doesn't fit too well.^^
