Noob to PFS

Sovereign Court

I am looking to run a private PFS game with my group.

Anything I need to know or do as a GM to make it legit? The players?

I can only find the player resources, figured that there were steps for a GM also.

Check out the section on Game Mastering starting on page 32 of the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide. It contains information on how to fill out Chronicle sheets as well as tips and guidelines for unique PFS situations.

You will also need to create an event so that the players will have a record of the scenarios you run and so the sessions can be counted toward your GM star rating. In a public setting you would want to do this before the game took place so people could search for the event. However for a private game it's fine to both create the event and report it as completed after you have run the scenario. The interface takes a little bit of figuring out but you'll get used to it rapidly.

Pretty much completely answered by everyone else. i feel the need for one little reminder since I saw it slip once myself.

Just make sure the characters are all society legal.

Little things such as Wizards aren't allowed to have Scribe Scrolls.
Alchemists are allowed to use Craft:Alchemy to make poison but a Ranger is not. Sadly the ranger can never create so much as a tindertwig unless there are some new rules I am unfamiliar with.

I've been considering DMing lately myself.

GMing for PFS often feels like "am I allowed to do this?" at first. Like, isn't there some special permission people have to go through? But, nope, not at all. You just need a PFS number, the scenario and 3 friends (plus a pregen) to run PFS. However, you are responsible for knowing (or at least attempting to know) the PFS-specific rules (like no PVP, PFS legal characters, the paperwork involved).

To make your GMing even better, I recommend bookmarking/loving the GM shared prep website and looking through the GM discussion threads for whatever scenarios you want to run.

For whatever reason, Paizo's forum software is doing something weird with the link. It's http://pfsprep.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum.php.
