Weapon Sacrifice (Ex)

Rules Questions

Hi all,

I have a question regarding this:

Weapon Sacrifice (Ex) When damage would cause the fighter or an adjacent ally to be knocked unconscious or killed, as a swift or immediate action the fighter can instead direct the damage to a weapon from the associated weapon group that he is wielding. The original target takes no damage, but the weapon receives only half its normal hardness. The fighter can use this option a number of times per day equal to the fighter's weapon training bonus with the associated weapon group. He cannot use this option with unarmed attacks.

From my understanding, all damage that would cause the fighter or an adjacent ally to be knocked unconscious or killed is directed to the weapon, even if the damage dealt is exceeding the weapon hp/hardness. So the weapon breaks and the fighter is alive. No exceeding damage goes to the fighter or so.

How do you see this?

In addition, I am still looking for a proper ingame description how it looks when I use this ability. I thought of something like you hold your weapon between the ally and the enemy, protecting your ally so the weapon breaks. But the damage of a fireball could also be blocked by this ability, so I thought of some kind of blood magic. Any ideas a highly appreciated.

Thanks for your input in advance!

I'm sure someone can dig up a clip of someone parrying an explosion with a sword.

Fighter can block anything.

EDIT: Dark Souls guy can parry explosions.

It gives the really cool visual of cutting through a breath weapon, that's for sure.

Scarab Sages

Use it with a Plasma Blade to block lightning.

I can't because we play core only. Plus books we bought which are available on the desk.
