As the subject says; does the Vigilante's Hidden Strike count as Sneak Attack for prerequisites? Things like the Blinding Sneak Attack or Sneaking Precision feats, or the Group Leader prestige class?

A strict reading would be no. It doesn't say it is Sneak Attack and while it functions similarly, it is not the same. I haven't seen any developer commentary on the matter, though.

The Concordance

They are not the same ability. They don't count as one another for any prerequisites.

That sucks :-(

Hopefully they'll errata it at some point... :-3

On the other side, if it doesn't count as a sneak attack, you can add Accomplished Sneak Attacker To a rogue/vigilantee build and get an extra d6 at the cost of a few d4s.

Also, VMC Rogue. 6d8+3d6+5 bonus damage at level 11!

If they wanted to make it count as Sneak Attack, they would have called it that. After all, the d8&d4 thing is clearly inspired by the Knife Master. But hey, don't be sad - Vigilante is still the better Rogue. So many stuff that a Rogue should have (like hide in plain sight, free tumbling, dragging enemies into the shadows, fighting extra quite, preventing an enemy from calling for help, making the enemy unconsious with a single attack, or making one extra precise strike). And on top of that, the class is also absolutly perfect for an actual ninja!
