Voice of War

Advice

Hi there lads and lasses,

For my next session, I need to give a big inspirational speech before a large battle. Our town is surrounded by enemies (Orcs, giants and dragons), and the city i brimming with war refugees.

My character is a young commander who hopefully can rally the troops for one last stand.

I thought you might help me with the speech. I've already read a ton of speeches (churchill etc.), but if you have any themes or phrases that can help me please share them.
Thanks in advance

This might help you.

Well, you can always go the easy route and adapt real life speeches to your current situation. Here's an example that I adapted from a Winston Churchill speech:
"To form an army to fight this threat is a serious undertaking in itself, but it must be remembered that we are in the preliminary stage of a great and terrible battle, that we are in action at many points, that we have to be prepared to fight. That the battle will be continuous, and that many preparations have to be made here and now. I would say to you as I have said to others: I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us a great fight rife with struggle and suffering. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory at all costs—Victory in spite of all terror—Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."

Start with a joke... and keep them coming.

Can't you just roll diplomacy or bluff, whichever is higher?

Seriously though, Nogar & Epic have some good suggestions.

HERE is Anger Nogar's suggestion in link form for those on mobile devices.
