So I have a kinda supportive character that started taking some barbarian levels to get rage to help it's combat effectiveness. My question is I finally am able to afford the Banner of the Ancient Kings to increase my flagbearer feat. But now I'm trying to decide between taking the rest barbarian or take some levels, between 1 to 4, of bard to synergize with the item before finishing up as a barb.
Because with the item I'd have 9 rounds of bardic performance, starting as a standard, to give everyone +2 to attack and damage, or I can take a bard archetype that'd give me 9 rounds of +4 to attack and damage as a move action. It would be 2 levels before I could take the extra bardic performance feat.
What do you suggest I do?

Barbarian and bard don't really work well together. You can't rage and use a bardic performance at the same time.
While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.
A bard is trained to use the Perform skill to create magical effects on those around him, including himself if desired.
What's the rest of the character? What other classes? What's the party makeup? What role do you envision for him/her?

Skald isn't an option because it doesn't get anything from the Banner of the Ancient Kings. The draw of taking a level of bard is I get 5 levels worth of bonuses for just the 1 level.
I have permission to rage and perform at the same time if I take the bard level(s) so that isn't an issue either.
So I have medium levels going marshal, so everyone gets a seance boon and I can add 1d6+3 to any d20 roll after it fails, 2 barb levels, and the flagbearer feat with the banner now. So I'm deciding on my next level, but my feat is already decided for this level regardless of my class choice. My "role" is a secondary melee guy that supports his teams combat.

If you can rage and bardic perform at the same time, you may as well go bard. That's a pretty serious buff that your GM is letting you have so you may as well use it.
