Skills for war

Rules Questions

I am wondering what skill/s would a commander use in battle for tactics? Or even to look at a map and know where strong/weak points are.

My initial thoughts were engineering, but there wasn't anything specific in the skills. Thanks for the help.

Profession is not one I thought of.

Liberty's Edge

Knowledges - Engineering & Geography
Professions - Engineer & Soldier

Beyond that you are in to house rule territory to create more specific knowledge/profession options.

Profession (Soldier) is the one you use for tactics. I'd imagine a commander would also have a dash of Knowledge (Geography) to know the terrain, Knowledge (Nobility) to know enemy commanders, Knowledge (Engineering) to know enemy materiel and fortifications, and Knowledge (History) to know the enemy's historic capabilities. Diplomacy to persuade allied commanders, Sense Motive to guess what your opposite is going to do.
