Kitsune Shapeshifting

Rules Questions

Can a Kitsune (with or without the Realistic Likeness feat) only take the shape of a pure human or can they take the forms of any creatures with the human subtype?

Since they don't gain specific bonuses from mimicking a human versus, say, a half-elf, I am inclined to say it does not matter. This is only my opinion though - if anyone knows of an actual rule, I would be curious to know what it is as well.

Technically, anything with the (human) subtype is Human, so you can take the form of any individual humanoid with the (Human) subtype.

Ask your GM though, because Realistic Likeness is abusable. Technically, you can do nasty things like use your shapechanging to identify other non-human shapechangers by trying to shift into their form and failing. You will probably end up getting told that you can shapeshift into anything that looks human, regardless of type or subtype.
