Hi everyone so I was looking at making a carpenter turned adventurer an wanted him to use a hammer and chisel as weapons. The best class I could see for this was monk of the empty hand. I did some research an same James Jacobs say that the MoTEH is considered proficient in improvised weapons http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2l7ns&page=114?Ask-James-Jacobs-ALL-your-Qu estions-Here#5683 Does this mean that I could take weapon focus (chisel) if I wanted to? Thank you.

You are mis-quoting James. He said "treats improvised weapons as if she were proficient in them". This is different that "is considered proficient".

Weapon Focus requires proficiency. So no.

This isn't any issue where a GM who disagrees with you will say "eh it's cool".

This is a divisive issue. So people that feel you can not take Weapon Focus Improvised Weapon, are not going to be swayed by your rules position.

Thank you and wow that is a contentious issue
