Can Balazar acquire the Mist Horror?
No. Balazar only gets stuff if they are defeated and would be banished. Mist Horror is never banished when defeated, ergo Balazar can never add it to his hand.

I actually think it's technically possible, but you'd have to spend 5 mythic power with the correct path, and Balazar has a lot of reasons to go marshal instead.

Ah, yes. The 5 charge power from Mythic Champion would indeed let Balazar do this. Totally not worth 5 charges (or picking that path) though in my opinion!
He could also add it to his hand by drawing it randomly from the box when discarding a spell to draw a random monster from the box. (I know this isn't what you meant but it is a way for him to get it in his hand)
(Nitpicking words time - Balazar never technically 'acquires' monsters. He adds them to his hand or draws them from the box. This distinction probably never matters but it is possible.)

Yeah, our group nearly never used that 5 charge power until the Rasping Rifts and the mythic charges like candy but certain foes that did awful things if everyone was at the same location (which they had to be).
