Costless items and Special Materials

Homebrew and House Rules

What do I do if I want to make a costless item out of a special material?

I mean, is a stake made out of umbrite(or a crystalline one) just 100% free? That'd be pretty sweet haha.

More seriously, should it be priced as if the cost was 1 gp?

Other than cold iron, why does the base cost matter? They all have costs that add to the base so it's that cost + 0.

In other words, what materials do you want to make something out of where the base item cost factors into the cost for the special material?

Liberty's Edge

They're looking at special materials from 3pp that only work on a base cost multiplications. So items cost 100x or 200x the base cost, not +500GP/lbs, or the like.

Having no cost items considered 1 gp items is a good way to rule this, but it would be a house rule. I believe that Paizo has a rule for no weight items being considered 0.5 lbs for special materials, but I can't seem to find the rule at the moment.

Then this would be the wrong place for that kind of question. Might I suggest Third-Party Pathfinder RPG Products for rules on 3pp items?

EDIT: Flagging to get this moved to the correct forum. hector212121, in the future, it might be helpful to mention what product you as asking, as that'll help others help you find the info you'll need.

Stone, bone and obsidian are all multiplied by the base cost.
Imagine a slick, polished marble staff, or something similar, a metal staff.

I was thinking of things like crystalline--and I didn't know where to put this, considering that it was a rule question. :P

They get the cost modified DOWN. How is that possibly an issue. Does anyone actually not know what happens when you multiply by 0?

So stone bone and obsidian versions are still non-cost.

hector212121: This rules section is for talking about actual official pathfinder rules. Rule made by companies other than Paizo go in the appropriately named forum "Third-Party Pathfinder RPG Products". You go there and there is another forum called "Advice and Rules Questions" for said "Third-Party Pathfinder RPG Products". Afterall
