Can a skald make an effective eldritch knight? I see that EK loses one spellcasting level, but add some bonus feats and fast BAB progression. What makes EK so attractive for arcane spellcasters and can a skald be a better EK than a wizardX/fighterX? I admit i do not know much about skalds or arcane casting in PFS.

When the core rule book came out the only way to make a Gish was with prestige classes like Eldritch Knight. Once other classes like the Magus, and Skald came out they became less relevant. There are of course still advantages that make them a valid choice for some concepts. Many of the latter classes also have a lot of level dependent abilities that are not advance by prestige classes. Wizards and Clerics for example only have a few level dependent class abilities compare to the Inquisitor or Oracle. This usually means that for most concepts remaining single classed is often the best choice.

I'd suggest using the Spell Warrior archetype for the Eldritch Knight feel rather than actually taking Eldritch Knight levels.
If you go Skald 10/Eldritch Knight 10 you end up with the same BAB as Skald 20 anyway, and the Skald higher level class features are better than the Eldritch Knight ones (aside from maybe the capstone).

EK is crap to all but wizard these days. All the other arcane classes have level scaling abilities that they lose to take EK.
EK is also crap for anything but the archery build now that we have so many options for melee styles casters. On the other hand, that EK/wiz archer is supremely fun to play.
