Does Paizo foresee doing HumbleBundle again?

Since HumbleBundle is doing so well does Paizo foresee doing this again? Also will you all be prepared the next time to handle the load on your servers as not to incur the same issue?

I'm really digging the project, a great idea! I just would like to see it more. Honestly Pathfinder is the best books I've seen on HumbleBundle, so thank you Paizo for making this happen and the benefit to the charities it brings!

I would be very surprised if they were to do this again any time soon. If nothing else, who are they going to sell the next bundle to? There are more than 50,000 people who have bought a copy of this bundle and don't really need a second PDF of the Advanced Class Guide.

Similarly, I'd be astonished if the load on their systems for the second bundle were anything comparable to this one (which caught not only Paizo but also Humble Bundle by surprise), and for the same reason.

Certainly but the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game product line is but one of a few product lines they could potentially use in future Humble Bundles.

There will be a lot of impact from the influx of new customers from the Humble Bundle to make any sort of decision on whether or not to do this sort of thing again. There are a lot, a lot, a lot of moving parts, as well as impact beyond our forums and our website to consider.

That assumes that they saturated the market, which I doubt. I suspect in a few days we will hear the cries of people who didn't realize the sale was happening, and will be very sad to have missed out.

In any case, your comment seems to have a built-in assumption that they would do the same or similar bundle. They don't have to. A bundle I think that would do ridiculously well would be to put together seasons 1 through 5 of PFS modules. That's over 100 modules at all levels they offer. The value there would be commensurate with the current humble bundle (which itself has all of season 6 modules in it), AND a huge, huge chunk of the existing player base would snatch it up.

They have a lot of options.

If Paizo started putting together Humble Bundles on a regular basis (even once/year or something), I'm not the only long-time customer that would start to wonder why I'm paying pull price up front for this stuff, when I could conceivably wait a little while and get $300 worth of PDFs for $15.

Paizo needs to consider that too.

It's a CHARITY event, Skeld. This is not being done just as a sales thing.

So? Is that supposed to make it immune to discussion?

Besides, it's not being advertised as "Give money to charity," it's being advertised as "Give money to charity and get a 'motherload' of Pathfinder stuff in return."

I think my point is valid. Once is ok; periodically is going to hurt business.

Neither of you are entirely wrong.

I agree that doing humble bundle frequently would probably be bad for business for Paizo. Especially if it was on some kind of semi-public schedule.

It's the same reasoning that's used to explain periodic why AP compilations are a bad idea.

Dark Archive

They did one for Comics and the sourcebooks. I am hoping for Pathfinder Tales next
