oversized / undersized bayonets?

Does the bayonet's size have to match the size of the weapon it attaches to?

It's normally a two-handed melee weapon, so reducing the size would mean less hands required to wield it as a melee weapon.

In particular, I'm looking at the titan fighter, which allows using oversized two-handed melee weapons, but doesn't allow using oversized two handed ranged weapons. So if take a medium Titan Fighter, can I attach a Large bayonet to a Medium Crossbow?

Or, likewise, I want to take an undersized bayonet so I don't need to use two hands when using my crossbow in melee. Can I do this?

I can't find anything definitive. Ask your GM (and assume the most conservative reading for PFS). I would default to no. It doesn't make sense that a weapon designed to fit onto another weapon would fit no matter what the respective size is.
Also seems a little cheesy (and my 'cheesometer' is calibrated pretty high).

Noteworthy is in PFS, the bayonets aren't designed to fit into a particular weapon, but instead can attach to any gun or crossbow. So saying they are designed for a particular weapon is rather misleading.

Also noteworthy that crossbows can be fired one-handed, so undersized bayonets seems mostly reasonable.

And last, in PFS, you can't actually shoot a crossbow/gun with the bayonet attached - it actually prevents firing. So there isn't the action movie BS where you shoot and stab. You can't even speed up the attaching of the bayonet, as it isn't subject to normal rules for equipping weapons.

Honestly, in terms of rules, this isn't cheesy or broken at all, as bayonets are really lacking weapons. Not to mention the under/over size penalty makes this very iffy in terms of offensive power.
