Hell's Rebels Recruitment (2 Spots Available)

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 105 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

Hello everyone! I am currently recruiting for two open party spots for a Hell's Rebels Campaign that I'd like to start roughly a week from now.
At present we have both an Arcane and Divine Spellcaster and a gunslinger. They'll be filling the roles of Spymaster (Int), Demagogue (Wis) and Strategist. Filling the gaps left by the current party set up is not strictly required for this recruitment but I know many people like to avoid too much over lap before building their PC's.

What I expect from my players
~ 1 Post a Day at Minimum: I can accommodate more posts than that, and we will likely be picking up pace after a little while but one of our players has requested a slower pace for now.

~ Read every post. Things will be missed, misinterpreted or accidentally skipped over, that's just human nature, but I expect that everyone is here to play for a good story and a good time and paying attention to your fellow party members is a pivotal part of roleplaying both at the table and in PbP. So please, read everything.

~ Voice your opinions. I am GM, not a dictator. Sometimes I may make rulings you disagree with, let me know. Sometimes I may make a mistake, let me know. This is a collaborative effort and we all want to have fun, part of that is crafting a gaming environment we can all agree on, I prefer my players to be proactive in this regard.

~ Read the Hell's Rebels Player's Guide. There are of course, other supplements you can read to craft your PC, that may add flavor, but that is not necessary, the players guide should provide significant information for this AP.

~ Have fun! That's why we're here, if at any point you feel there is something that you do not enjoy, let me know. I am a flexible person and will do what I can to accommodate the needs of the group.

If you can commit to all of the above then here are the Character Creation Guidelines:
~ 20 Pt Buy

~ Max HP 1st Level, Average +1 every subsequent level

~ Background Skills

~ 2 Traits - 1 must be from the Hell's Rebels Player's Guide, though you may re-flavor the text with my approval. A single drawback may be taken with approval from me first.
Important: Traits and Drawbacks are more than just a power boost, they represent a facet of your PC's personality. I expect all traits to be a part of who your PC is as a person, not just more numbers for your character sheet.

~ Alignment: Any non-evil.

~ Races: Core races are all available. The Player's Guide also suggests a number of other races, of these I will also accept Tieflings and Tengu (though you would really need to sell me on the Tengu).

~ Classes/Source Books: As this is (for the next few days anyway) the most recent AP, I see no reason to limit the selection all that much. Anything Paizo up to and including Occult Classes will be considered though I reserve the right to veto anything that looks like it may cause trouble. In that event you will be given an opportunity to convince me otherwise.

~ Starting Wealth: 150gp

When making your PC, please focus on personality, background, fluff, etc., before your crunch. I don't much care what your are in relation to Pathfinder as long as I know who you are in relation to Kintargo and the fight for it's freedom.

I expect to have recruitment open for about a week or so, depending on interest and quality of submissions that may change but that should be sufficient time. I'll consider a submission complete when I have received the following:
1: A detailed background - Length of the background is not important as long as it provided me with sufficient information for who your character is.
2: A completed Character Sheet in compliance with the rules listed above
3: Your Reason to Protest and which of the remaining officer spots you'd like to assume.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Roleplaying in this thread is encouraged, but not required for consideration. If you do choose to roleplay the setting is as follows:

________________________

You find yourself, for one reason or another, in the Longroad Coffee House at about midday. The normally relaxed and inviting atmosphere is instead tense and the main room is full of whispers and careful glances as the regulars size up anyone they don't recognize.

Last night a number of fires broke out in Kintargo, destroying many well known establishments and rumors have already started making their way through the streets. The most credible ones suggest that Barzillai Thrune is responsible, that they were calculated attacks, but on who and for what reason, no one is quite sure. In any case, it's obviously taken it's toll on the population.

Despite this, however, Laria, the proprietor, greets you with a smile.
"What can I get for you hun? Maybe get you something special?" She winks as she points towards back where a young man plays the lute. "You can sit over there if you'd like to be away from all the conspirators."

Hey Recruiter,

I think I would very much enjoy the type of game you plan to run.

Full disclosure: I'm currently running this AP. However, I will try my best to keep player and character knowledge separate.

If this is not a problem, then I'm thinking of the following:

- young man from an old noble family whose titles and riches were taken away when Thrune came to power;
- lands/riches/etc. were given to the Tanessen Family (this family’s interests include armor and weapon crafting, city defense, and military supplies);
- my PC would work as a weapon master (or assistant weapon master if that's too much for a 1st level PC) for the family (train the rich, snobby kids);
- my PC would have heard stories (maybe even have some of sort diary) that detailed how his grandfather (or great grandfather, I need to check the dates) supported the Silver Ravens;
- my PC is obsessed with the history of Ravens (Historian of the Rebellion trait);
- he's literally fed up with Thrune and Thrune supporters and is looking for a way to a) get back at Thrune for 'stealing' their lands/titles/etc.; b) restore his family's noble name (and titles/lands/etc.); and c) get revenge on the Tannesens who constantly abuse their servants (himself included).

Crunch wise he would be a magus who has kept his magical studies secret from his employers.

Let me know if the above is interesting enough to be considered and I'll continue developing.

Thanks for hosting,

Talion Orehaul-Slagdam:
Talion Orehaul-Slagdam was born in a Slag family, even among his few fellow dwarves he was a outcast. For the sins of his father had branded his family line as such. He knows not what his father had done to receive such ire from the other dwarves. But, it must of been something terrible. Talion himself tried to keep a positive outlook on life, however, being squashed under the boot of his fellow dwarves and the Asmodean church he worshiped his whole life was enough to drive him. During his downtime, Talion would grace the local library. He loved reading tales of epic quests and great adventures. One day, Talion noticed a out of place book. This book described Ragathiel. A god that put an end to injustice and slayed thoughs who would impose it. Reading it uplifted his spirits! Surely someone like that would come; a savior, surely someone would take pity on him.

The tyranny in his life was over now. Staring into a mug of mead; Talion recalled "that" night. Instead of cleaning the filth from the blades of the Hellknights as he was tasked. He took one for his own, a large silver bastard sword and slaughtered his dwarven brethren in their sleep. Their words never again touching his ears. He cleaned the silver blade as he had done countless times before, but this time however, looking into its reflection and seeing the man who he truly was. A man that would put an end to injustice and tyranny. Taking a few things from the armory, Talion set out into the streets of Kintargo. He needed no savior... he would become the savior.

Talion arrives in Aria Park where a protest is being held. He searches for a man that delivered to him a letter. A job, putting his expertise to use. Talion needed the money and if it helped his goal... then he had o answer the call.

Talion will take the role of Partisan.

Let me know what you think :)

Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka is bald, carefully shaved on a regular basis so as to show off his very fine tattoo. The tattoo is of a stylized pseudodragon whose tail is coiled around his neck, stylistically ‘clinging’ to the back of his head, and just peering out over the top (barely visible from the front over the top of the head) as the tiny dragon looks out onto the world. The tattoo is lightly colored in greens and blues and is very beautiful, if you’re into that sort of thing.

From there, the gaunt man is dressed in several layers of homespun cotton, also brightly dyed, and a light silk scarf - a gift from one of his lady friends back home as a remembrance. He has several scarves, but only sports one at a time.

He wears heavy well worn boots. He has a large sling bag over his shoulder and chest with a variety of clanking objects within. A light crossbow hangs at his waist along with a dagger that sees more use in dinner than in combat. He carries a quarterstaff, but as a walking stick more than anything martial.

- - -

Femi walks up to the matron and politely inquires, "Is the lutist very good? There's a music to conspiracy too don't you think? I wonder..."

He hesitates but caves to his better nature and wanders over to hear the solo musician - at least for now. He leans his quarterstaff behind his chair and sits, wondering if food and drink will be brought to him or if he must seek it out.

Though it's only a moment, he decides not to wait and strides up to the bar, collecting whatever the house has to offer and paying with shiny new silver. He sits back down and takes out a palimpsest and a sliver of lead. He pencils in some notes, just a few thoughts really, on the already dirty paper. Satisfied he'll remember his latest thought, he closes it and stuffs it back in his sling bag.

He sniffs at the scarf around his neck as if remembering a fond time and he looks out over the conspirators... he waits.

GM, crunch in profile. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

While I'm looking at making something, I can't get the Hell's Rebels PG because of the Paizo website being overloaded. :/

All I get are links back to the Paizo site, which hangs when I try to download it.

Sent you a PM, Recruiter.

As for those trying to download the Player's Guide, yeah it's tough. Basically give it 5min before you try again, then if it doesn't give it to you, try another 5min. I've managed to download like 7 books in the past 24 hours, you just gotta give the system time.

Aight, sussing out a paladin now. Divine defender, tank role, sentinel for the rebellion. DM, how do you feel about Background Skills?

Argh! I just found the short "background skills" on your initial post. Should've done a text search earlier...

Description: Beorn is a strapping young man with a thick head of black hair and,(to his dismay) a still sparse mustache and beard. His
orc heritage is displayed by somewhat pointed ears and teeth and ruddy complexion. He attempts to dress well but quite often has to
be satisfied with common clothing.

Background:Beorn(he insists on adding THE DIVINE as his stage name.) was an abandoned child who was fathered by an orcish mercenary on
a prostitute while on leave. Cared for until he was old enough for the orphanage, he was selected as part of a 'New futures for disadvantaged
children' project by a noblewoman's group and given an education in numbers, writing that included the elegant Chelish dialect and the Infernal language to act as an entryway into the higher ranks of Chelish society and the classic presentations of Chelish arts. Taking a liking to the arts, Beorn took every chance he could to learn
singing and became a talented amateur who longed for the chance to stand on a grand stage. However, with the occupation by Thrune forces and the closing of the opera, Beorn found his hopes dashed and his resentment at the ridiculous laws by the new order grew until he found himself actually thinking of committing treasonous acts.
Short term goal: Perform in the opera in Kintargo
Long term goal: Travel beyond Cheliax to train and sing in halls around the Inner Sea
Character in Nutshell:EXUBERANT
Character describing themselves: A HUMBLE STUDENT OF THE ARTS WHO WISHES TO ONLY HAVE THE CHANCE TO PROPERLY EXPRESS MY TALENTS! MY DEEPEST THANKS TO MADAM VIVIAN AND HER FROCKED MINI-PIGS FOR HER PATRONAGE!

Sovereign Court

I've built Darian Zorikar, a paladin (divine defender) in the service of Iomedae. Darian is introspective and philosophical. While he believes that it is imperative that a revolution overthrow the unjust regime of Cheliax in Kintargo, he also believes that it is important for men and women of conscience to moderate and direct that revolution so it does not get out of hand with bloodlust when choosing its enemies. He believes that it is important for the legitimacy of the new regime that the revolution must focus only on the corrupted and irredeemable enemies of the people, rather than spreading into flames of mob justice against anyone disliked by the common folk. To that end he uses his considerable charisma both as a leader and as a voice for restraint against excess, believing that good ends will only come out of good acts.

Femi stirs the stew with his spoon listlessly. He decides the local fare needs... something and sneaks a quick spell under his scarf.

Spellcraft 15:
Ye old Prestidigitation

"Ahhh, much better." he mumbles as he tastes the stew again. He digs in greedily now, remembering how hungry he really was. Reading really takes it out of me... When did I last eat?

Edgerson should be good to go

"Thank you. I will have the stew. says Edgerson from beneath his hood. He leans over the bar and whispers to Laria, "How can you tell they are conspirators?"

Talion would smile. "Laria my dear, good to see your establishment wasn't hit last night. The usual for me, black coffee with sugar cubes on the side." Placing a silver in Laria's hand, he would find a seat near, but facing away from the bard.

When his coffee and sugar cubes would come. He would toss a sugar cube in his mouth and let his saliva melt it into a viscous consistency. He then took a sip of hot coffee, flushing the sugar off his tongue. This was his favorite treat.

His brow would furrow as he looked about the room, "Conspirators aye.?" He would whisper to himself as he popped another sugar cube in his mouth and began the process again.

A lot of the concepts look good so far.

Fabian feel free to craft a character using that concept and I will consider it, I trust all my players to be able to act on character vs player knowledge so if you are selected for this run I don't think that would be an issue.

Talion are you a Kintargan native? How did you escape prosecution after the mass murder? Are you on the lam or have you successfully avoided suspicion?

Beorn What is your reason for protest? And which officer position are you considering?

Darian how have you managed to maintain your outlawed faith without compromising your morals? Similarly how have you escaped capture?

I will likely have more questions as the week goes on and I have a little more time to comb over everyone's crunch a little more

________________________________________________________________

Laria looks up as Femi questions her about the lutist and she shrugs.
"Well, he's not the best musician we've ever had work here, but he might be one of the cutest!" Her laughter seems genuine as she hands out a number of ordered drinks, using a step stool to reach the counter. Many places were not built for halflings and the Coffee House was no exception, despite being owned by one. "If there is a music to conspiracy, I imagine it's a bit darker than the lute can perform."

She turns from the tattoed varisian as her new customers enter, stopping only long enough to send one of her waiters to grab some stew from the kitchen. When Edgerson leans over and whispers, she answers at a regular volume, not caring if she's heard.

"How can I tell they're conspirators? They're a bunch of regulars who sit and mumble to themselves at every bit of news that comes through my door. I'd bet you my whole establishment that half the rumors you hear come from that group right there by the window." She points to a ragtag group of men and women, all nursing their coffee and growing even quieter as more unknown faces pile in. She nods to the dwarf as he enters. "Thanks Talion, I am too, but I spend every morning serving the dottari so I doubt they'd let some ruffians set us on fire anyway, best coffee in Kintargo." She smiles as she hands him his black coffee and sugar before turning back to the tiefling.

"So do you want to whisper more sweet nothings in my ear or are you going to order something?"

Answers:
Yes, I was brought to Kintargo when I was still in the womb and my mother died in childbirth, my father had long been gone, but not before screwing me. I would say the things that transpired including the murders happened 3 years previously and I do not know why I haven't been found out. (In Meta, the reason I haven't been found out is they planned to kill us off because we really weren't needed and I did the killing for them, so they let me walk away. The job was going to pay more than what I took. So they saved money in the end and would let the city chew me up because I'm a dwarf with the Slagdam name.)

Answer:

Looking for idol and letting his voice be heard on his displeasure at the new rules. He wasn't planning on any officer position.

All the fun people are over there. Femi concludes as he slurps the last of his stew, grabs his drink, and heads over to the other room.

Edgerson wrote:

He slaps the man lightly on the back, "Because they whisper." he whispers, and then laughs.

"Name's Femi, happy to make your acquaintance. What brings you here - the overthrow of the new government?" he laughs at the thought. "They are a little harsher than the last aren't they?"

Darian's position is essentially like a Christian in early contact Japan, when the religion was outlawed. He has a regular job and to outward appearances seems like a regular person who doesn't draw attention to himself. He sees in the revolution the chance to make a decisive material change in the lives of the people of Kintargo, rather than simply throwing his life away in a futile gesture. To that end he is cautious but committed to making real change, which in his mind means planning, organization, and making a stand at the right time. It costs him nothing to put on a humble face and keep his head down when the dottari come down the street.

Yarrr.

Greetings. I'm a avid PFS player/GM (5*) who also likes to dabble in other pbps, especially fast ones. I'm located in the SF Bay Area (GMT -8). I am currently playing in a couple pbp and I am also GMing a pbp through Emerald Spire where we are currently about to wrap up the 3rd floor.

I saw your recruitment post yesterday and figured it was finally time to read the player's guide and I was totally blown away by how awesome it looked so I decided to make a character and apply.

Hellena is a follower of Milani who is used to working behind the scenes after having been oppressed by the White Witches of Irrisen during her childhood. She's now in Kintargo looking for the Silver Ravens as part of her studies into Milani.

Mechnically she's a rogue, with a plan to become an Evangelist of Milani. I believe either Spymaster (already taken) or Recruiter with Sentinel a distant third.

She is at the protest to Meet a Contact in her search for the Silver Ravens.

Detailed Background:
Hellene Free-Hawk was born the daughter of a minor chieftain in the Realm of the Mammoth Lords. As a young girl her family had been scatted and her clan defeated by the ever encroaching winter and the horrible White Witches of Irrisen.

The Witches took and raised Hellena but she never forgot who she was and found divine guidance in Milani's teachings... How to help her true people from inside Irrisen.

Eventually Irrisen became too dangerous for Hellena, she had taken too many risks and had sabotaged one too many caravan and so sadly left for a warmer locale.

Finding herself in Absalom, the City at the center of the world Hellena studied Milani's teachings for the first time in public, and learned of the Silver Ravens and their struggles in Kintargo. Intrigued and far more curious about the Silver Ravens than even Absalom's libraries were able to satiate, Hellene traveled to Kintargo to learn more about the Silver Ravens, and through them Milani.

I've given this some more thought and I think I'll respectfully bow out of recruitment. One thing is to have knowledge or have played an AP but I'm currently DMing it. This AP has some neat surprises and it wouldn't be fair just to have a PC play dumb.

You guys have a great time!

Okay, talked with the GM and my concept is a bit unorthodox, but he's said he'll give it equal treatment, so I submit this as my background. I decided I would go ahead and tell you all her big secret, however please keep it as player, not character for the time being. :)

Background and Concept:
Born in Sekhamina, Tamsin Vai was always strange. A pale almost white skinned drow? Her parents had heard rumors of throwbacks, but never seen one. Growing up they mostly tried to keep her out of sight, more in shame than fear others might think her an actual surface elf and kill her.

She spent most of her time alone, singing to pass the time. Her only company was her twin (not albino) brother, who didn't visit her as much as she would have liked. Her talked to her about the demons that drow worship, but she never really paid much attention... it just... didn't feel right to her. When she came of age, her brother and she agreed that she didn't belong with the drow. With his help, she arranged to accompany a small raiding party to the surface.

Separating from the raiding party as soon as they emerged, she (not wanting anyone to link her name to her drow family, she chose the pseudonym Belladonna Nightshade.) located the nearest city and spent her first night in a temple of Shelyn. Even after just one night in the temple, she realized that as the patron of artists, Shelyn was what she'd been missing all those years in the Underdark. few months singing for her meals before her voice was noticed by a member of the Kintargo Opera house. Her elven beauty and her voice made her perfect for a part in the infamous opera, Huntress of Heroes! However, the recent declaration of martial law has ended all operas for the current and forseeable future, so Belladonna will do anything she has to to get back on the stage.

Class she's a bard (arcane healer/sound striker). I'd like to take the drow noble feat chain, but of course won't if the GM doesn't want me to. I'm also looking at Eldritch Heritage (Maestro). Her campaign trait is Diva in Training (incorporated above) and her other trait (no drawback) is Irrepressible, she can use her Charisma in place of Wisdom on charm and enchantment saves.

As far as personality and such goes, she's not very strong (Str 8) so she won't be in melee, but as a bard she can provide support and backup healing as an arcane healer. Then, in the particularly difficult fights, she'll be able to shatter ear drums with her high notes (sound striker :) )

Her Sheet is done, so I will go ahead and enter it on my profile. I am putting "Drow Nobility" as her first feat, but if I am accepted but the GM would prefer I stay away from that feat chain, then I will switch i then.

Her "Reason to Protest" is Catching a Glimpse of her Idol, Strea Vestori. Being a tiefling, Strea has obvious reason for people to hate her on sight, but she's managed to still become famous enough that the people of Kintargo trust her. While Belladonna does not LOOK like a drow, if people found out the truth... but Strea gives her hope.

Apologies, is this thread still recruiting?

A tall, well muscled elf with a faint smile finds an open seat near the lutist and joins the conversation. "A little. Yes. Though if we travel too far down those lines of consideration, we too will be conspirators, won't we?"

He throws back a gulp of thick dwarven ale, purchased from the bar. One might almost call it quaffing, were the man doing it not an elf.

The elf continues, "And conspirators would be fools to speak so openly, so brazenly, without assurances that all ears are friendly ones. Unless they're recruiting."

The smile doesn't so much as flicker, but something behind it slowly sours. The elf is still making the same face, and it looks like a smile to casual passers-by. But any joy it might have held is dead, and the pretense of entertainment a fiction.

"I'm Elias. This lutist though, Laria. We should pitch in for lessons. The next time you need someone for an event, do let me know. There are plenty of recently unemployed musicians in town who would work far below their usual stage for reliable coin."

Would a warpriest of Ragathiel be a good fit for your party?

Kalem RIker

Bio:
Backstory: Kalem had never like his red skin. It was the curse of his mother had given him, and he himself was an unexpected gift from his father after one night of romping in the seedier districts of Kintargo.
Raised alone in the Old Kintargo district, he began work early at the docks in Old Harbor, but was met with ire by the human workers who once served as soldiers. “Lessons” they called it, but any onlooker that walked on could tell they were beatings. If he tried to fight back, they beat him harder, tripping him, knocking him to the ground, or choking him till he passed out. There were only so many times he could claim to have been out drinking, to stop his poor mother from worrying.
Maybe she knew what was going on, maybe not. But eventually Kalem’s mother joined the Church of Asmodeus. They were both given wide berth after that, and life seemed bright for the first time in years. However, Kalem found himself again in hardship when he learned his mother was imprisoned by the city after being condemned by the Church itself. His sadness turned to rage when he learned the truth from an overheard conversation, that Kalem’s mother was framed when she refused to fulfill the desires of a potential ally of the Church.
With his mother locked away, his father unknown, and the Church barring him from their halls, Kalem did the only thing he could to earn a living, call on all the beatings and fights he had gotten into in the past and hire himself out as a mercenary. Having no taste for blood, he is satisfied leaving his opponents with bumps and bruises.
But there’s a rebellion brewing in Kintargo, and Kalem has decided that if there was a best time to try and get mother out of prison, it would be now. For better or for worse, things need to change.

Personality: Kalem is still young in Tiefling years, but has been hardened by his experiences. He was raised to be polite by his courtesan of a mother, and is even eloquent to a point though his appearance will sometimes work against him. During a fight, Kalem uses both his strength and speed to attack his opponents and render them at a disadvantage. With companions, his primary objective is to prevent more vital members from being suppressed, or to isolate and keep the biggest threat busy.

As an officer, Kalem will help out where needed as a Sentinel.

Finishing up on the actual character sheet, but this is roughly what I'm going for.

And please tell me if I'm doing this right, first time trying something like this.

Apologies, is this thread still recruiting?

I believe so, I think I read we had until March 1st then he and the other players would discuss our submissions.

Yep. Still open, welcome! Everyone join in the chatter! We can't know how good you are if you're quiet. :)

Femi laughs lightly, "Oh too true! I should be more quiet than I am, but we're all friends here aren't we? Name's Femi by the way - or at least that's what everyone calls me. And yes, I will totally add my silver to those lessons."

He looks to the others in the room "Lots of folks here today... everyone's parched before the big speeches I guess."

"Pardon sir.."

A Tiefling with skin as bright as blood takes a place nearby. Visibly, a few others who had taken notice of his presence shift away slightly.

"A few fellows at the counter don't take kindly to my presence. I'm hoping your hospitality doesn't object?"

His leather armor was worn, as was everything else about him. There is a tiredness to his eyes, though his face is young. He orders a drink. Visible pain is on his face as he pulls out a scrap of leather that serves as a money pouch empties out the last few remaining coins onto the counter.

"You're quite welcome... Tiefling huh? That must be tough. I mean people give me some grief about my tattoo from time to time, but I can wear a scarf to cover it if need be. Can't imagine what it must be like for you."

He notes the man's poor state and considers buying this round, but the pain in his own purse keeps him from making so bold an offer at this time.

"So what do you think about the meeting later? You going to go and tell the government what you think? Or do you feel silence and safety the only way in this difficult time?"

Femi is amazingly open for such talk... seemingly blind to the risks involved.

Like Pirate Rob above, I tend to want to avoid alias bloat by posting as a particular alias unless/until that alias makes it into an actual game. :)

"Meeting?"

For a native of area, Kalem wasn't terribly perceptive. If he had time to chat with friends over drinks, he may have known what the man with the shaved head was speaking of. But he had been on job after job, and was still no closer to raising any sort of capital.

"Is this addressing the recent arsons?"

A fortunate stroke for him. People were eager to hire guards when they were scared. An unfortunate event, but he wasn't going to complain about where coin came from at this point.

So should I return to my profile name?

Oh so you want us to RP some in this thread?

Belladonna Nightshade wrote:

I believe so (if I read the posts right. As a way of example for the actual game.

Belladonna (if only we could have custom avatars) is a beautiful, slight (only 4' 7") young elven woman with lavender-lilac hair dressed as a entertainer/dancer. She enters, but stands off to the side of the room, watching the crowd with her head downcast a bit.

It seems she is trying to stay out of the brighter light, yet also out of the darker corners of the room.

"Why the protest in Aria Park of course. I thought everyone knew about it!"

He goes on to describe the protest in general terms. It seems clear from his tone that he's enamored with something here, but maybe not the protest itself.

"So I plan to go to show my support of course. The people should have some say in their future don't you think? I mean sure, we need leaders, but they should be at least conscious of the will of the people." he stops short of actually speaking out against Thrune, but the breath is there, hanging in the air.

"Martial law? We don't need martial law... not here. It's unreasonable."

"er, the fire was arson? I thought it was, you know, just a fire..."

"I'll agree to that."

Kalem lifts his now half full drink in the air as a toast before lowering it back to the counter.

"The rules upon rules they keep scribbling up does make my job more difficult at times. Perhaps I'll join you."

His eyes wander to the rest of the bar as he takes his next sip. Most of the usual crowd for this place, but there was an outlier. A young woman that seemed like she was from the entertainment districts. Did her kind come this far out just for a drink?

Question for either GM or players that might know the GM well enough to answer: Can Prestidigitation be used to change eye color? I'm not talking a full disguise, just eye color? Some would say yes, some would say no.

Rule of thumb (as I believe it) is that prestidigitation can be used for anything role-play, but not mechanical. Not sure how that would work with maintaining eye color, though I can imagine there exists a line of cosmetic potions with eye droppers for such a thing.

Best check with the DM though.

Talion sits there, in a rather well kept scale mail and wearing darker clothes. A beautiful silver bastard sword normally worn on his back, is currently in one hand, hilt up, still in the sheath. At the the words, "Martial Law" his grip would tighten on the sword.

"Martial law! Ha! My arse!" Talion blurts out looking to the others.

"You mean, 'Corrupt Takeover'! Mark my words, the change will be slow or it will be sudden, but either way, we are about to see some drastic changes that don't bode well for the common folk. Keep your heads down if you wish. Cowards will get taken advantage of first."

Talion then downs the rest of his black coffee and dumps the sugar cubes in the empty cup.

"Laria! Bourbon!" Talion holds up the cup with the sugar cubes.

Kalem eyed the dwarf's equipment.

How much could that go for on the market? He thought. If I only had a rogue's fingers.

He put the thought aside. He had his own talents, and he'd earn his way with hard work.

"Do you suggest we boast about then, dwarf? Stick our necks out so as to save the executioner the trouble?"

Kalem finishes what remains of his drink, not bothering to look at blustering taking place beside him.

"Bravery's a fine thing, but it takes all kinds to survive where Kintargo is heading."

Dotting for interest. I've never played this AP before and it looks good.

"Depends on who pays the one with the hood." Talion would suggest. "For the axe doesn't care either way, but the hood does swing harder the more gold you give him."

He looks at his large blade and twists it from side to side, admiring the hilt it seemed. "I've payed much in gold and blood to get where I am today. But from my stunted view, its either be the oppressed, or be the ones that die changing the current state. Pretty grim choices aye? Hahaha!"

The dwarf smiles and takes a drink from the sugary bourbon sludge...

Mostly just listening, Belladonna finally speaks up.

"If you aren't willing to die for what you believe in, are you really even alive?"

Sovereign Court

(Darian Zorikar)

"Don't sell your life cheaply," says a young man fumbling with a heavy tool bag, who enters just in time to respond to the elf. "There are myriad ways to die and many more than happy to accommodate, but few that will leave a lasting impact in the world. If you believe in something strongly enough to die for it, make sure that your death will be meaningful to those beliefs." He wrestles his tool bag to one of the tables and takes a seat. "Laria, I know you're really busy, but I could definitely do with some water. Or tea. Or anything, really. You know I'm not picky," he says to the hostess.

Looking up from his table, the craftsman glances at Belladonna with an intense, slightly unnerving gaze. "I'm sorry for intruding on your conversation. This whole business of the recent changes has everyone talking, and I suppose it just brought my thoughts to the fore as well," he says.

Rungok plays in my Jade Regent game and he's a super-active, super-involved player. Good choice of player for any group that wants someone enthusiastic and fun!

"The ones that die are rarely the ones that change things. Live to make a difference, sure. Kill to make a difference? Fine. But all dying ever does is empower someone else. I respect your stance, good dwarf, but I do not agree with it."

The elf raises his tankard in a mock salute, and adjusts his harp in it's sling. "In a revolution, if that's what's coming to this town, the winners will be doing so atop a hill of the dead. It'll be bloody no madder how the dice or heads roll. Are you planning on being atop the heap, Talion?"
