i'll get you guys on the road in the morning, I believe the numbers favor the mission to Hardwick and the fields appeared to have more support than bridge building.
Sorry about the delays, had to pick u p some slack at work this week.
Glad to hear from you; I'm beginning to think we'll have to generally move forward based on consensus to minimize slow downs >.>
Also, depending on if you know there will be some delay, maybe you could set us up for some tavern talk or something when you need to take a short break from this PbP :3EDIT: I hope Frank's most recent post makes for a better place to change scenes... without removing everyone else's ability to add something...

Fastolph Overhill |

I am good with either mission, I do not have a leaning in any specific direction.
The website and the net at the house have been problematic the last few days. It is also going in to my busy session at work and new mandates have been sent down, causing extra work.
Marching order:
I have a solid perception score +6, I would like to be in the front to keep a lookout or the rear to guard our backs.
Riding: I would like a Riding Dog please!

Frank E. |

Frank would probably be a good rear guard.
With the familiar-is-close-bonus-alertness-feat Frank gets a measly +2 perception,
but Timothy will hang out with Frank and has a respectable +5 perception.
Frank won't do night watch, but after the first night he will cast Alarm to help cover the first 4 hours, probably enlisting Tim to stay up to wake up the second shift.
On the first day of travels Frank will have Summon monster I instead of Alarm, but after that he has spells as noted on his (updated) alias (copied below for your convinience):
Spells Prepared
. 1st Alarm, Color Spray (x2) (Will, DC 14), Mount
. 0 (at will) Dancing Lights, Mage hand, Open/close, Prestidigitation

"Sin" Zarzuket |

The best place for Sin in the marching order would probably be somewhere firmly in the middle so he can respond in either direction. Also, I'm not sure anyone wants him on watch at any point during the night, his "fantastic" perception score of -2 puts a firm damper on any abilities he has in that direction.
Spells Prepared:
0-Level: Brand, Read Magic, Acid Splash, Detect Magic
1st-Level: Shocking Grasp x2, Color Spray

Brother Davco |

Brother Davco will ride up front. Most likely second in line to provide support to whoever is riding point.
Last watch is best for Davco. He likes to time his devotion with the rising of the sun.
Spells
0-Detect Magic
0-Light
0-Resistance
0-Toolkit
1-Forbid Action
1-Magic Weapon
1-Stunning Barrier

Frank E. |

Brother Davco, I'm curious, what is the Toolkit spell?
I tried looking it up but I couldn't find it. Is it like Mending?

Brother Davco |

Toolkit Cleric 0
School: Conjuration (Creation)
Components: V, S
Casting Time : 1 swift action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: Concentration
You can summon any known tool into your free hand to complete a specific task. The tool remains as long as you concentrate on this task. The spell gives a +2 circumstance bonus on any Craft skill.
Appears in : Deep Magic

Salyne Kallum |

Gah, back from the dead! Sorry, was bedridden with the flu.
Marching order If single file I will be behind Fastolph, ready to jump to his aid! If two abreast, I will walk (or ride) beside him.
Watch order I will happily take first watch.
Spells bard spells are spontaneous, so I have what I have!

Frank E. |

Timothy could take any shift no one else wants, he can speak and has +5 perception/lowlight vision...
Unlike clerics and bards, (but the same as Magi) Frank "must choose and prepare his spells ahead of time by getting 8 hours of sleep and spending 1 hour studying his spellbook." Unless we have more than 8 hours worth of camping, Frank will take his +0/+2 perception and just sleep xD
edit: Oh yeah, and if we're doing 2 hour shifts, the first two shifts happen at the same time as an Alarm spell, so if even if they fail perception, anything (that doesn't know the password) getting within a 20' radius of the center of camp activates a handbell sound that can wake everyone up xD

Frank E. |

Looks like we can have 2 hour watches with no one getting less than 6hrs sleep:
Salyne (+Alarm spell), Fastolph (+Alarm spell), Timothy, and finally Davco

I think Fastolph may become fumble mouthed in the company of someone with literately twice as much Charisma as him :)

Long story short, the general manager was uh... given oppotunities elsewhere (i.e.) Fired and that means a lot of the actual things that need done suddenly got shifted to me. Though im not management, nor want to be, or anything fun like that. Im just sort of well longest tenured employee who has a clue and a work ethic enough to do what needs done. *lawls* if my fiance were home I would have quit months ago
*shakes fist at the Air force*
*lawls*

Frank E. |

I see, that seems annoying :/
I hope they reward you for your hard work at least :D
in other news, the dancing light gives four adjacent torches and those give 20' radius circle of normal light and 20' past that is +1 step up the light ladder (darkness becomes dim light and dim light becomes normal light).
Also Timothy has low-light vision so he can see twice that far from that quartet of glowy orbs ~100' away from us xD
...so basically if anything is following along the road, Tim gets a shot at spotting them :P

Frank E. |

sadly its not my first one... or my second or third I think im on number 4. Blame the army and jumping out of perfectly good airplanes for that... oh and football in highschool. But anyways, able to look at things today without cringing so time to continue sorry about the delay.
1) no need to be sorry unless you got the concussion on purpose :P
2) Happy to hear you're feeling a bit better ^_^
Frank E. |

BTW, how dark is it at the moment?
Assuming it's still bright enough to see 250ft away, Frank's horse could run for 17 rounds x 250ft/round without CON checks :D
(4250ft is about 1000ft short of a mile)
(depending on lighting, Frank could start taking pot shots (up to 1200ft) to piss off the little scaly buggers)
ponies can only run up to 200ft x 14 rounds w/o CON checks (and only if they're carrying 75 pounds or less) and I'm not sure if Dharkatania + her gear weighs more than 230 ibs...
I think a heavy crossbow should be long enough range that Frank can safely take pot-shots at the kobolds ASAP if ya'll wanna go charging in :3

Frank E. |

lol triple post.... too bad I don't think fast enough for edits
BTW, how dark is it at the moment?
Specifically: will it be bright enough outside to shoot at things 1000 to 1200 ft away...for the next 20 minutes or so? xD

Frank E. |

I just checked the knowledge skill entry and if kobolds are humanoid then it's knowledge local (are they monstrous enough to be monstrous humanoids?)
I wonder what's the DC for knowing that they have darkvision...

"Sin" Zarzuket |

Well for most common enemies like goblins, so kobolds as well I assume, the DC to identify is only 5+CR. Not sure about dark vision specifically, but I did get a 23 for know:local, so hopefully that's enough.
If not, then I can always just delete the post and write up something else like I said. No big deal.

Frank E. |

good point, Kobold's darkvision can't be all that hard to know.
Now the question is: does everyone without darkvision feel confident enough with their artificial light sources (like Frank's dancing lights) to go fight? xD

DM The nines |

It could be assumed that as trained members of the Silvershields that a kobold seeing in the dark is common enough knowledge
In fact with your knowledge check Sin you know that the local tribe of kobolds is a relatively peaceful group of fellows who only get feisty if things in their little patch of forest get riled up. In fact about once a year an old Albinoed Kobold comes into macridi with gems and other minor trinkets and trades for a few things for the tribe... that visit usually comes in the spring, and is perhaps overdue?

Frank E. |

Yay we're off!
During the few minutes we ride, Frank will be recasting dancing lights several times so that we can at least hustle (60'/round for ponies with greater than a light load) all the way there...
