Combining Wounds and Vigor and Wound Thresholds Optional Rules

Has any one ever tried to combin the Wounds and Vigor and Wound Thresholds Optional Rules but use the Threshold only on the wounds.

My idea was to use the 2 systems together so that you only have the grazed, wounded, and critical on the WP. I plain to give them only 1x their con score but let them go negative with their con as the staged. So if they have a con of 12 it would look like this.

Wp 10-12 No penalty
Wp 7-9 =She takes a –1 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.
Wp 4-6 = She takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.
Wp 1-3 = She takes a –3 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.
WP 0- -11 = -3 penalty and it gains the staggered condition until it is no longer Dying. Furthermore, when a creature is Dying, if that creature takes any standard or move action on its turn, its remaining wound points are reduced by 1 and it must make a DC 10 Constitution check. If the creature fails that check, it falls unconscious.
wp -12 Dead

I think this would let you have you pc's and npc's feel the pain of the wounds but only on Crits or when they have been beaten down badly already as normal the damage would go to your VP first before getting these. It would also make a healing spell much more powerful as you could get rid of the penalty from a crit that lowered your WP and effecting your ability.

What do you all think?

P.S. This game I may use this in will start at level 2.

I really like this and ive thought about doing something myself. How would it break down if it were different scores? If con is 18, do you still have four levels of wounds or would you have more ranges?

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

I'm currently experimenting with something similar.

My changes:
- vitality regenerates fully after 15 minutes of rest
- wound points are equal to Con score
- in addition to normal damage, crits deal wound point damage equal to crit multiplier
- whenever a character receives wound damage, they must succeed at a Fort save (DC 15 + [2 x number of total wound points taken]) or suffer an injury. Injuries are based on the called shot effects in Ultimate Combat (target area is determined randomly). Repeated injuries against the same body location aggravate the effect (called shot => critical called shot => debilitating blow).

I plan to test it in my next campaign (provided my players are on board with it).

Yea if you look at the staged it is

3/4 wp = -1
1/2 wp = -2
1/4 wp = -3
0 wp less -3 penalty and it gains the staggered condition until it is no longer Dying.

So for 18 con it would be 4.5 for the 1/4
14-18 = 0
10-13 = -1
6-9 =-2
1-5 = -3
0--17 =-3 penalty and it gains the staggered condition until it is no longer Dying.
-18 dead

Thank you Amanuensis for your system as well. I hope you will post how well it worked out as it is very close
