Find a good mount

Advice

Hello.
I recently started thinking about getting a mount for combat porpouses, i tought a regular horse would be good, but then i saw that the horse may not be able to move due to my weight and my equipment, so i discarded the otion. (I'm a medium human that weights 143 lbs +50 lbs of equipment)

I have handle animal and ride as class skills, and about 5 ranks in each one.

So it came to me a crazy idea: Is it posible to have a dragon-like mount?

I read about the wyvern (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/dragons/wyvern) and i tought it would be a viable choice due to the neutral alignment and it's few HD (7HD)

My DM said that it may be possible, but he asked "How do you plan to feed it?" "wouldn't you get poisoned by just touching it?"

Well, i still have my doubts, i want a dragon-like mount (If is possible) that endures with me in battle.

So the questions are:
Is it possible to have a dragon-like mount?
What kind of dragon-like mount can i have?
If not, what is your favorite mount or wich one would you recommend for combat purposes?

A heavy horse can bear 200 lbs with no problem. Clydesdales were bred for that purpose.

Dragon companions probably fall under Leadership, which would probably be possible in this case since it sounds like your GM is already into the idea. Dragonne ( http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/magical-beasts/dragonne ) is the most established dragon-like, rideable option but a wyvern would probably be considered reasonable.

If you can't make Leadership happen, but do have the mount from a class, you can take Monstrous Mount to get a griffon. Griffons are not very dragon-like, but they fly and have claws if that's what you're looking for.

What's your class? And is leadership allowed?

Heavy war trained horse is the easy choice.

If you can blow thousands of gold there's all sorts of exotic choices like rocs and hippogriffs.

Three feats gets you a fully powered animal companion that you can use for a mount.

Leadership can get you a mount.

I'm a bloodrager, and yes, i have the leadership feat (also speak draconic)

Horses, as large quadrapeds, have a carrying capacity of x3 making:

Light 228
Medium 459
Heavy 690

So a horse can easily carry you and your equipment. A heavy horse has +4 strength and will be 399/798/1200.

what level ?

Later in your Career you can learn and cast Phantom steed. Add on a Lesser rod of Extend for 3,000gp. At level 10 you can Summon a Steed that can ride over sandy, muddy, or even swampy ground without difficulty or decrease in speed. And The mount can use water walk at will (as the spell, no action required to activate this ability).

That is 20 hours of a summon-able Mount at the get go. Come 14th Level it can then fly and the world is your oyster. If it dies...Summon another one.

Till then you could always buy a war trained Mount. Or you could try to leadership something cool like a Wyvern or very young dragon when you can reasonably have that much HD of a follower/cohort.

There are rules for capturing, taming, and raising exotic beasts in this book here.
