today my dad, my boy and me made a field trip to visit a distant relative who is a classic farmer with a bit of everything instead of insdustrial farming
the boy had great fun chasing chickens and feeding cows
we brought home potatos, eggs and sausages that had been a pig just a few days ago, we bought Presskopf (lit. pressed head, head cheese in english apparently) Blood sausage and liverwurst
is there a nacked rule in the treehousse ?

I love real farms. And real sausages! I had some from a farmers market in Cape Breton this summer, absolutely fantastic. Once you get a taste of real fresh food it's hard to go back to the mass-produced stuff

As an aside aeglos, one of my longer-termed adventures once I get settled with a new job post graduation is a tour of Central Europe. My mother wants to do a river cruise on one of the big rivers there, possibly the Danube. I'll keep you apprised, I'd love to visit your area and see you, Sabine, and the dwarfling
I don't know why I love minis so much. I don't even have a regular game to use them in. Still, they are fun to paint...Me too. I buy way too many for way too little use, but they are fun I've recently gotten back into painting, though don't get as much done as I'd like.
I just got back in as well. I ended up selling quite a few of my more valuable pieces during my panicked move last Spring. But, I still have quite a collection, and it keeps growing, despite rationality dictating I should get rid of more rather than buying more

Freehold, speaking of adventures, I am hoping when the weather improves to a pint where walking outdoors isn't a chore to come down to NYC for the day. Hopefully you, me, CH, and anyone else in the area can hook up

the Danube is very beautiful, my dad did a river criuse a few years ago, from vienna to budapest I think, great landscapes and two fascinating cities
the river rhine is great as well, rolling hills, hundreds of castles, vineyards little wine towns and great historical citys like Mainz, Koblenz and Cologne

OK. Of course the post eaten was a long one, so here goes:
I was thinking of a good main villain for my Spelljammer type game. I came up with a lich named the Maggot Lord. He dwells in an ancient giant wasp hive that circles the Void, near the strands of the Muck region. I'm debating wether he would command live giant wasps or reanimated ones.
I'm also trying to recall the name of the alien race that Marvel had in some comics that implanted larvae in people ( The Breed maybe?). I think they would make an interesting evil race that could be in collusion with the Maggot Lord.
That's the brood from marvel.
And when it comes to liches in space, there is always The Fool....

Who is the Fool? I feel like I've heard that before. I was thinking the Maggot Lord, instead of being your typical dried skeletal husk would instead be a noisome immense Baron Harkonnen character, crawling with maggots that acted like Kyuss worms
So does it make me a bad GM that my PCs tend to have at least one PC go unconscious or have a PC death every session. Mostly unconsciousness though.

As with Patrick's offer, I will wait for you to decide whether you are sticking around before I inquire about the Ravenloft game :) It is back up and running after a 6 month hiatus, and Nathaniel is surprisingly still alive, although not currently adventuring with the other PCs.
I appreciate the offer - I feel pretty bad for leaving with nary a word, and would understand if you didn't want such an unreliable fellow back in the game. I think I'll be around, but probably not as much as before, and best to make sure I am committed and comfortable before I think of joining (or re-joining) a pbp - but I do very much appreciate it.
You are a kinder GM than I; I would probably bring an absent character back as a vampire or werewolf to fight (and be killed by) the rest of the PCs ... (oh, spoilers for my Carrion Crown game).

My one trip across the pond, as it were, was a trip with my first college choir. We were supposed to do a famous/Capitol city tour of Europe, but we were the only ones signed up, so they moved us to the Rhine river tour. So instead of 3-4 days each in a famous city, we spent 2 weeks in a bus with barely a night in each town/city.
Despite that, we saw many, many countries, (including a couple the size of a postage stamp, still independent countries though. 1 was a mile square. It had a strip mall, and a castle.) :)
We saw beautiful countrysides, castles, (Neuswanstein!) vineyards, mountains, etc. It was great. Only would have been better if we had more time in each nice spot. ;P
I've seen the advertisements for those European river cruises. I have to admit it sounds like something that I would enjoy!
I say 'Go for eet'! :)

The Fool is THE classic SPELLJAMMER lich. He is trapped in the spell jammer with all the other NPCs and was the captain of it several times and wants nothing more than to either be the captain again or escape. His name isn't so much stating that he is a fool, but that he has fooled so many people over the years that his insult towards others has become his name.

No worries. Life happens.
Really, it came down to the fact that Nate is somewhat central to the story, so it seemed like we would be better served by keeping him around as an NPC, rather than killing him off.

Sadly, my older brothers did not like mixing fantasy and sci-fi together (go Tolkien, or go home) that I never got to play Spelljammer, I have the map of the rock of Bral that accidentally came in the used grey box I got a few years ago for nostalgia reasons, but that's all I've seen.
I have plans for combining Skull and Shackles, Iron Gods, and Distant Worlds, but it's still in the stuck in my head phase.

So. Up early. No work today, but I do have class in Boston. I'm working on a new meditation technique today, Shenpa. The focus of Shenpa is to objectively scrutinize a bad habit and the discomfort that arises when you attempt to break the habit. Like much meditation it helps you to bring this discomfort to the forefront and to diffuse it by acknowledging its presence and allowing it to be, while not reacting to it.
I need to carve out a moment to get my photoshop rolling. It seems my PbP's are always embroiled in fights
i am really enjoying having my dogs snuggled up on me after my hour on the elliptical machine though. Sad that I only have a few minutes more to enjoy it. But all pleasure (as well as all pain) is fleeting. Best to enjoy it as it comes, there's always more available in the future.

Fantasy space has always held a certain fascination for me. I like Spelljammer, my only complaint with it was it never really took itself seriously. There's a lot of clumsy attempts at humor within the canonical stuff. And tinker gnomes. I do hate me some tinker gnomes.
There have been a few good 3pp forays into the "sword and blaster" genre. Legendary games has a good KS (Legendary Planet AP )they are slowly releasing. It Came From the Stars from Zombie Sky Press is a great one too. Of course there is Distant Worlds for some good nuggets. And of course, the late lamented Sailing the Starlit Sea which was to feature my elephantine biocrafters, the Yih.
