It's probably worth investing in a few items that you can upgrade later. As an Inspired Blade, a masterwork (insert special material) rapier is a good bet. Adamantine for bypassing hardness, or Silversheen for corrosion resistance.
Rings of Protection and Cloaks of Resistance are always good buys.
A wand of Cure Light Wounds never goes to waste, even if you need someone else to activate it.
It might be worth looking at this thread too - loads of useful items.

I like having a few alchemical items on hand at that point. One or two each of acid, alchemist's fire, holy water, antitoxin, stillgut (the best nausea remedy since you can drink it as a move action), and maybe antiplague depending on the campaign.
Do you actually use unarmed strikes, or is sohei only for defensive reasons? Brawling armour is a really good investment if you do want to punch things at least occasionally. At 4,000gp I don't think it's a priority for you right now, but something to keep in mind for the next few levels.

This is my first time multi-classing. Usually my style is to just come up with a cool theme and take a character from 1st to 20th. This time I wanted to branch out and I found this cool guide Dipping For Fun and Profit and thought what the heck. So, I am using the Sohei Monk for Defense, Bonus Feats and the Initiative increase. I will be using the unarmed attacks fairly frequently because I am taking the Panther Style feat tree. With that in mind I was thinking about the AOMF (agile) since my dex is pretty darn high since I am a goblin, MW Rapier (cold iron) and a Bracer of AC +1. The alchemical substances are a great call since I have an alchemist in the party and I plan on dipping that class as well. Thanks for the input. Keep it coming.
