Air Elemental Bloodline Sorceror and Elemental Body

Advice

So two basic questions. (OK Four)

Elemental Body spells are Bonus Spells one level after they would be available to select as standard Spells Known. Or Two Levels after a Wizard (specialist or not) can take the spell. If I choose these as spells known when I am first eligible, I just lose the bonus spell?

It requires Elemental Body III in order to do Whirlwind damage to a size medium creature. And does D8+STR damage. So as a 13th level character (minimum - unless I want to lose the Bonus Spell and take it at 12th), I can do damage comparable to a 1st level fighter?

So outside of Darkvision and Fly, is there any reason to use these Bloodline specific spells instead of just using the 3rd level Gaseous Form (which renders me immune to physical attack, but I can't cast spells)?

Can I cast spells while in Elemental Body?

You don't automatically get to replace chosen spells known when you receive them as bloodline spells, so you have to use the usual sorcerer spell replacement rule.

A Large-sized Air Elemental using Whirlwind can absolutely tear up medium-sized opposition in the right circumstances, but he does it by moving them around, not the slam damage. It's also somewhat more impressive at level 9 (with summoned elementals) than at level 13.

Gaseous form does not render you immune to physical attack.

Keep in mind that when you fail your reflex save vs. whirlwind you take damage as if hit by the slam attack. This suggests that any touch spells you have active or effects that depend on a hit will trigger with whirlwind. Combine this with Vine Strike and you can be doing a bit more damage and not only whirlwinding foes but also entangling them. Combine with nauseating trail and you can create a line of nauseating squares and drop foes in them, worse case if you get hit you just keep moving since thats all that is required to pick someone up.
