books on character building? like Dire destiny book's The Very last book on Alignment is pretty good i think.

I've yet to see any that are "must haves". That doesn't mean that some aren't useful, good, and entertaining, but it's all up to taste.

among my favorites are the D20 Hellenic Adventures.

Richard Pett's "Whispering Homunculus" collection has wonderful ideas for so many things from village festivals to dungeon crawling. Each is a list with usually 50 choices in each, and some range from the "Dang, what a great idea!" to the "that's so silly I have to use it".


Asparagas Jumpsuit did a series of Character Workbooks for each of the player classes. I'm not sure that I'd consider them "must haves", but those are the only character building supplements that come to mind.

The OP calls for 3PP books on character building. Not buildings with character. Or building character.

@zauriel56 - I admit to being a little mystified - can you clarify what you are looking for? Character options? Builds? Something else?
