Does Golarion have a southern icecap?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Is there an icecap on the southern pole of Golarion? If so, is there much cannon about it?

Unlikely. Guns are relatively rare in Golarion, if I'm not mistaken

There is indeed. From Pathfinder Adventure Path #56: Raiders of the Fever Sea (which has an article about the oceans of Golarion):

Skull & Shackles wrote:

Thick ice covers much of the great ocean at the planet’s southern pole. Dangers lurk below the ice shelf, and storms batter its surface...

The Antarkos Ocean is home to a large number of spirits, ghosts, and animate dreams, leading to its other name—the Ocean of Frozen Dreams. Many of the ghosts are neither from the area nor killed there, but still somehow prowl this frozen ocean and its permanent ice shelf...

In the seasons when there are no whales, the ice trolls and other intelligent creatures trade with an enigmatic race of aquatic giants. It is said these aquatic giants can read minds and control a creature’s thoughts and dreams...

There's more in the article, of course. No large-scale firearms, though. ^_^

Okay, cool. I have a player that is super into PFC and I was making sure that my idea for a nightwave that lurks under the icecap in the summer, revels in the endless night of winter, and is slowly, secretly building an army of undead frozen in the ice to be unleashed as a massive invasion when they finally reach the cap's edge wouldn't clash with anything.

I am disappointed that the cannon thing means I have to scrap my whole "Prussian War on Ice" story line.

As the person that wrote that bit about the Ocean of Frozen Dreams, I can soundly say that aboleths don't figure into this at all.

whaa?

Hnnnnngh, a developer's word vs. my gut feeling. I don't enjoy this sensation. Oh well. Until we see them mentioned in a new Bestiary, Adventure Path, or Companion, guess I'll have to wear my tin foil hat a little while longer.

Eh, go with your gut. I'm not gonna show up to your table and tell your players something different. :)
