Hi every1,
I have a few questions about Dhampir's. I am gonna play a cleric in a new campaign, and i want to play a Dhampir.
I just got two questions about how the channel energy abilty from the cleric works for me and the group.
My cleric wil be a LN cleric, of a LN deity, and as such he can choose between channeling positive or negative energy. I intent to go for postive channel, but will take versatile channel on lvl 1 or lvl 5, to give me the option of channeling negative also. My domains will be death and healing. I intent to have Life dominant soul feat on lvl 1 or 3.
For the favored class option i will take the: Add +1 to the caster level of any channeling feat used to affect undead option.
My first question is about the affects of the channel energy on me and my party, as i have negative energy affinity that is described as: The creature is alive, but is treated as undead for all effects that affect undeaddifferently than living creatures, such as cure spells and channeled energy.
If i include myself in the channel, this works out (i think) as follows:
target living:
channel positive energy: harm myself, heal surrounding living creatures
channel negative energy: heal myself, harm surrouding living creatures
target undead:
channel positive eneryg: harm surrounding undead
channel negative energy: heal surrouding undead
With the life dominant soul feat i think that will change to:
target living:
CPE: ½ heal myself, heal surrouding living creatures
CNE: heal myself, harm surrouding living creatures
target undead:
CPE: harm surrounding undead
CNE: ½ heal myself, heal surrounding undead
And on lvl 8 after i get the death's embrace abillity (you heal damage instead of taking damage from channeled negative energy. If the channeled negative energy targets undead, you heal hit points just like undead in the area.) from the death domain it will change to:
target living:
CPE: ½ heal myself, heal surrouding living creatures
CNE: heal myself, harm surrouding living creatures
target undead:
CPE: harm surrounding undead
CNE: heal myself, heal surrounding undead
Can anybody verify that this is correct?
Second question is about the favored class option, can anybody tell me for what feats this works? As i can not find any channeling feat that uses caster level. Do they mean cleric lvl in stead? And if so, does my channel gets better (more damage / healing) if i target undead also, affect undead = also healing or harming them in my opinion.

There may be question as to what takes priority first (Life Dominant vs Death's Embrace)
Death's Embrace (player favorable, Domain ability trumps channel definition and applied after feat):
Target Living:
CPE: you heal half, living heal full
CNE: you heal full, living harmed
Target Undead:
CPE: you harmed full, undead harmed
CNE: you healed full, undead healed
Death's Embrace (player less favorable, feat applies first or channel definition trumps domain ability):
Target Living:
CPE: you heal half, living heal full
CNE: you heal nothing (or half), living harmed
Target Undead:
CPE: you harmed full, undead harmed
CNE: you healed half, undead healed full
Which of the two applies to you depends on your GM.
Edit: In all of the above scenarios, you take full damage from channeled positive energy used to harm undead. Now, since you can omit yourself from your own channel, that helps with that, but not other channels or LoH.

Per the race trait as detailed on Archives of Nethys:
"Negative Energy Affinity: Though a living creature, a dhampir reacts to positive and negative energy as if it were undead—positive energy harms it, while negative energy heals it. "
You've skimmed past the part that says you react to positive energy as undead as well.

Hi Blake,
That part i do get, but the thing i got confused over is the living creature part.
I am a living creature, at least that is what NEA says, so if i target undead that would not affect me.
So the question is do i count as an undead creature, and react to the channel as an undead creature. Or do i count as a living creature, and react to the channel as an undead.
That last scentence is the exact wording of NEA btw, so that one seems the most logic to me.
But i will run that past my GM also ;)

Ah, I see where the confusion stems. We have been short handing the rules in our conversation. We've been saying target living and target undead, but there is no such rule. Channelers release positive/negative energy to heal or to harm.
So, when positive energy is used to harm, per NEA, you take damage. So too are undead.
You are a livinv creature, so Turn and Command would not affect you.
