My first bloodrager

Advice

So creating my first bloodrager, it would be great if i could get some comments on it. A teaser, with my bow I can at lvl 8 deal: 98 points of damage.

Bloodrager
Archetype: Primalist
Bloodline: Destined
Race: Suli (My third suli character haha, love them)

Stats (total)
Str 20 +2 (race)
Dex 20 +2 lvl 4 and 8
Con 14
Int 12
Wiz 10
Cha 14 +2 (race)

Feats
Power Attack
Point Blank Shoot
Rapid Shot
Many shot
Future Wants:
Improved critical

Bloodline/Primalist power
1st bloodline
4th bloodline
8th, rage power - lesser beast totem, beast totem power
12th, rage power - Greater beast totem power, fourth rager power i do not know yet.
All to gain pounce.
Rest bloodline power

I'm not quite sure if I want to go this way with pounce yet as it cost a lot to take 2 good bloodline powers, and doesn't help my archery which iv used a lot of feats on now.

Equipment at lvl 1:
Nodachi 18-20 Crit 1D10 (will become crit range 6 :D 15-20) with improved critical feat.
Studded Leather
Aiming for mithral light
Bought:
Composite Longbow +5 1d8+5 is being crafted by a weaponsmith as we speak. (Will buy adaptiv when i get gold and opportunity.

That's it for now :)
I think this is a strong fighters to be good in both ranged and close combat.

Composite bow adaptive + enlarge person + bloodrage + bulls strength = 1. 2d6+11 + 2. manyshot 2d6+11+ 3. 2d6+11 4.Rapid shot 2d6+11 + Elemental Assult 1d6 (I haven't found anything saying elemental assault cant imbue bow and arrow)

so in total str dmg 44 + 8x1d6=48+ 1d6=6 that is 98 points of damage at max with a bow xD At lvl 8.

WHat are you going for?

Ranged damage?

Melee Damage?

Both?

If Ranged: Why Pounce...isn't that counterproductive to being an archer?

If Melee: Why so many Archery Feats? Arcane strike can transfer over to bow damage and offer Dual use IF you need the bow. You should really focus on melee TBH...and just get a +1 Adaptive Bow....hit it with arcane strike and Use any special arrows you happen to find along the way. OR you could just use a spell for ranged damage or a Wand of Scorching ray (Arcane strike works for Ray attacks too)

Switch hitting on a bloodrager is not the best class to switch hit with. I suggest Ranger, Slayer, or Warpriest as better options for switch hitting.

Yes both.
I love the idea of dealing big amounts of damage from afar, encountering dragons, large dangerous creatures, its good to be able to do something helpful from a distance.

But I also really love being in close combat so i hope this build will do alright.

My fellow players aren't speccers or hardcore players so even if I'm a little weaker, in both, my character in the group will be able to participate more and have a lot more fun.

Lying in the hills, sniping someone from far away, awesome xD But I'm not coverdly player so need close combat also!

Elemental assult is an ability my race allready have so using it.

Haven't found any other useful rage powers for archery, or archery and melee.
So pounce would help the lack I have in melee for taking archer feets. Or so i hope and think.
Thanks :)

Here have a bunch of thoughts in no particular order. Hope they help.

Have you seen the urban bloodrager archetype? it would allow you to choose higher ranged accuracy (+dex) instead of the typical blood rage bonuses. You might give it a look over as it would let you have a bit more flexibility in how you fight.

the biggest power of pounce is that it lets a warrior move and full attack in the same round. You get that from ranged attacks, if you have such a focus on it why bother with melee until you opponent approaches into acceptable range?
You can just pincushion them until they are so kind as to move up to you.
I wouldn't really call your build a switch hitter, more that you happen to be an archer with a good strength score. Without investment you are going to eventually lag behind in melee damage but you will have a better time with range at that point.
If you just plan on two handing a weapon when things get close you should be fine.

Consider Reckless abandon as one replacement rage power option. If you are dead set on not taking precise shot as a feat that is going to be a -4 penalty ontop of the -4 from using rapid and multi-shots. Thats painful no matter what you are fighting but a L8 character is going to expect AC's between 21-29 on monsters.
+8BAB/+5DEX/+1Magic+1PBS= +15 to attack.
-4 from melee penalty, -4from rapid/many shot.
You'll be lucky to land one attack as two of your three primary shots are combined into a single attack roll.
Your secondary attack (at -5) is so far behind from them that you'd best hope for a 20 to hit.
Reckless will help somewhat with its power attack style inversion of AC/To hit.

I'd say Arcane bloodline will mesh much better with a ranged character than destined but Arcane is kind of heinous in power curve and Destined's fated bloodrager power can get real fun if you take the Fates Favored trait to boost the bonuses.

Furians suggestion of Arcane strike would work for you, there is even a blood rager feat that will save you on swift actions to use it (Blooded arcane strike)
It would be a less powerful but universal bonus so you could get that damage on either a ranged attack or a melee attack.
Arcane strike is an untyped bonus so it stacks with magic bonuses.

Enlarge person doesn't help you in ranged attacks.

All equipment worn or carried by a creature is similarly enlarged by the spell. Melee weapons affected by this spell deal more damage (see Table: Medium/Large Weapon Damage). Other magical properties are not affected by this spell. Any enlarged item that leaves an enlarged creature's possession (including a projectile or thrown weapon) instantly returns to its normal size. This means that thrown and projectile weapons deal their normal damage. Magical properties of enlarged items are not increased by this spell.

This would mean you take a -2 to hit (-1size and -2dex) for a grand total of a +1 to damage.

The spell you want is Gravity bow. With your decent charisma you can likely manage a wand assuming you invest in UMD.

Elemental Assault (Su): Once per day as a swift action, a suli can shroud her arms in acid, cold, electricity, or fire. This lasts for one round per level, and can be dismissed as a free action. Unarmed strikes with her arms or hands (or attacks with weapons held in those hands) deal +1d6 points of damage of the appropriate energy type.

Is an arrow held in your hand when you make an attack with it? You are going to want to ask your GM that question because the ability is technically correct in that interpretation. If you squint that is.
Getting to add an additional 1d6 of energy damage to a full round attack is a fairly hard core ability for alpha striking stuff. Don't be surprised if the GM cracks down on it once he realizes that it is a force multiplier for a ranged character.

Ok I guess I can throw in my 2 Cents then.

I will give you something Functional that will help you do moderately well at switch hitting.

Rest bloodline power

1st Level Bloodline- You can't change this

4th Level Bloodline- This is why you take destined (I prefer Arcane)
8th Level Rage Power- Supersition (Saves are important Levels 7+) and Witch Hunter (Extra damage on BOTH ranged and Melee)
12 Level Rage Power- Come and Get Me (BEST melee ability) and Eater of Magic (Saves are Important bro)
16th Level Bloodline- Keep this...Its actually Pretty Good.

Future Wants:
Improved critical

I would go with:

1 Power attack
3 Quick Draw
5 Deadly Aim
6* Improved Initiative
7 Arcane Strike
9 Improved Critical (Melee Weapon. @ 16 it AUTO confirms the criticals...YESSSSS)((Pick up Bracer's of Falcon's aim It gives you improved critical for you bow for 4,000gp and +1 to ranged attacks, AND +3 perception))
9* Leadership (This is typically banned..but IF allowed get as high a level Evangelist CLeric as possible and make him buff you and the team. Have him have Toughness, Iron will, Great Fortitude, and Crafting feats)
11- Combat Reflexes (Because Come and Get me is level 12)
12* Weapon Focus- Melee Weapon or Lightning Reflex (destined Bonus feats SUCK!!!)

Your feat starved and I know it....Being a switch hitter you have no need for Point blank shot as you should charge down your foes within 30 feet from you or they are on top of YOU or a team mate (Requiring Precise shot...YUCK!)

I Basically just gave you damage feats and rage powers to try and get your lesser amount of Arrows to hit harder.

Put the +2 in STR not Dex...as a Full BaB class you will be fine.

Also for traits you NEED Fate's Favored +1 to all luck bonuses.

Now for an example of my build I presented:

Level 9 (Assuming Automatic Progression Bonus):
Your Str will be 24 and 28 while raging. Your Dex will be a 18.

Ranged is +1 Adaptive Longbow + Bracers of Falcon Aim:

To Hit: +9 BaB, +4 Dex, +1 Magic Weapon, +1 Bracer of falcon Aim, +2 Inspire Courage (yay Leadership), + 2 Prayer (Leadership again...wow..+1 if no Fate's Favored), -3 Deadly Aim= +16/+11

Damage:
Weapon, + 9 (raging Str), +1 Magic Weapon, +1 Bracer of falcon Aim, +2 Inspire Courage (yay Leadership), + 2 Prayer (Leadership again...wow..+1 if no Fate's Favored), +6 Deadly Aim, +2 Arcane Strike, +3 Witch hunter= 1d8+25

Normal Raging Ranged attack:
+16/+11 1d8+25 19-20/x3 (Not Bad if you hit both arrows)

Melee Looks like:
To Hit: +9 BaB, +8 Str, +1 Magic Weapon, +2 Inspire Courage (yay Leadership), + 2 Prayer (Leadership again...wow..+1 if no Fate's Favored), -3 Power attack.= +19/+14

Damage: Weapon, + 13 raging Str, +1 Magic Weapon, +2 Inspire Courage (yay Leadership), + 2 Prayer (Leadership again...wow..+1 if no Fate's Favored), +9 Power attack, +2 Arcane Strike, +3 Witch hunter=
1d10+32 15-20/x2

Normal Raging Melee Attack:
+19/+14 1d10+32 15-20/x2

Those are not bad numbers at all for a non-optimized Character. I did not account for Haste which helps as well.

Composite bow adaptive + enlarge person + bloodrage + bulls strength = 1. 2d6+11 + 2. manyshot 2d6+11+ 3. 2d6+11 4.Rapid shot 2d6+11 + Elemental Assult 1d6 (I haven't found anything saying elemental assault cant imbue bow and arrow)

You're right about Elemental assault as long as they Hold the weapon...BUT wrong on enlarge person. Projectiles shrink back to there normal size when fired. Enlarge is good for Melee...but hella bad for Ranged. If you want better bow damage you need to get Use Magic Device and a Wand of Gravity Bow.
