Paladin Feat Advice

Advice

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble coming up with a path for my paladin as I have finished all of the feat trees I wanted. I am a level 8 tiefling paladin (Oath of Vengeance)with the 3 mythic tier (Guradian).

These are my feats:

Fey Foundling
Power Attack
Greater Mercy
Skill Focus (Survival)
Eldritch Heritage (orc)
Mythic Eldritch Heritage
Mythic Power Attack

The only thing I will say is that I'm a little wary about extra lay on hands because my charisma is high and with the third mythic tier I can get them back really easily.

Thanks for any help!

I'd hold off on the Extra Lay on Hands.

Can you pick up Mythic Vital Strike?

I'd have to take regular vital strike. I'm using a greatsword, so it wouldn't be the worst, but I feel like with the smite bonuses I should be going for full attacks. At this point damage isn't really an issue.

If you have Int 13 Unsanctioned Knowledge is a really strong feat for a Paladin to take. The Bard list has a ton of good stuff that usually isn't available to Paladins.

But Mythic Vital Strike effectively gives you a full attack on a Vital Strike, which means that you get all the smite bonuses. Plus, it works with bows, too. You could become a crazy mobile paladin with all this.

I have have 9 feats remaining (6 from levels, 3 from mythic). Any feat chains I should consider?

Vital Strike chain+Mythic Vital Strike, for mobility and damage. If you're not buying a Keen weapon, perhaps Improved Critical or something. Furious Focus would also help if you take that chain.

Lunge is always nice to have. It's effectively all the improved combat maneuvers, for free. If your enemies can't reach you, it doesn't matter if you trigger an AOO. Outslug Style and its following feat chain from Weapon Master's Handbook is a logical extension, although if you take Outslug Style, you'll need to more carefully manage your swift actions, and you won't want to also take the Vital Strike chain.

If you have the DEX for it, you could become an archer.

Mythic Vital Strike is utterly broken in terms of damage output. If your DM isn't banning it, then take it. Keep in mind you can use your Path ability to get an extra feat, and then use your extra feat for vital strike, and your regular mythic feat for the mythic vital strike all in one mythic tier gain.

Other things to keep in mind, Legendary Item. It can be extremely powerful, and it's definitely recommended. You can utterly break a mythic game with Legendary Item depending on how you build it. Or you can be like me and just give yourself flying armor because hey, flying armor. If you use the weapon instead, Foe-Biting is a very handy ability.

Also of relevance would be the mythic initiative path ability, I forget the actual name, but it allows you to go first for a mythic point. Very, very powerful since mythic games become rocket tag on steroids, and that first turn is critical.

@heretek I actually already took the legendary item and selected my greatsword for RP reasons.

Is there any in going with an intimidate build from this point? Seems thematic with the Oath of Vengeance.

If you want to intimidate, your feats should probably be:

Intimidating Prowess
Cornugon Smash
Hurtful
Skill Unlock (Intimidate)

Also consider:
Weapon Focus
Dazzling Display
Mythic Dazzling Display

I'd avoid it though. You're full BAB, have no other special intimidation boosters, and need all your swift actions. Intimidation only applies Shaken (fairly weak) unless you have the Skill Unlock for it, or use Hurtful to take another attack, and Hurtful eats a swift action. At best, it allows you to hit multiple times on a charge or standard attack, or once more on a full attack, and the best part of that can be covered with the Mythic Vital Strike chain.

I think I might consider vital strike or lunge for now. Is there anything essential that I might be missing?
