Aasimar Equine Question

Rules Questions

Ok so I have a friend who traded out his Spell-Like for a roll on the table for unique abilities of the Aasimar. He got the ability to talk to Horses and other Equine creatures. Well he was going Angel-Blood for a Paladin character so it worked.

At level 5 he has taken the Mount feature and now we don't know if that means he can talk to his Mount and control it easier or not? I mean could he talk to my War Horse and get it to learn tricks faster? Or anything like that?

RAW, no. Your horse could be a 25 int certified genius and be able to speak in 13 different tongues (including common), but when getting it to do things the horse is as difficult to control as a dumb ordinary equine. Just being able to communicate with the horse easier certainly won't make a meaningful difference, and in any case there is no rules text stating that language barriers or a lack thereof affect the check. However, ask your GM. A lot of GMs don't like or can't be bothered with running the animal handling rules as written, so your GM might give you some benefit from your ability.

Thank you, I will bring it up next time we get together just because we were not sure.

Well, atleast he can affect her mount with language dependant spells.

Well we were wondering if you needed a handle animal check to make the animal know what you want it to do when you can talk to it and it understand you.
