Rules Questions

Ok for the character I have I been thinking how make the best of shocking grasp, being I am a magus myrmidarch. Right now I have extended spell and elemental spell (acid),with magical trait if I were to use both on shocking grasp would it still be only a level one spell or would it a level two? If I use any metamagic that only cost 1 spell level would shocking grasp be still a level one or would it all add up?

I saw another feat called stack metamagic which by what I understand I could very well use extend spell two in a row which for shocking grasp would be 15d6 at level 10. Is this right or did I misunderstood? Also if done in this way would shocking grasp be still a first level spell would would it be a level two in this way?

Now if I have a pearl of power and again if I used shocking grasp with all those metamagic feets would it still give me back the spell with the metamagic feats on it as long it is still a level one spell?

It would use a 2nd level spell slot. Not sure why you're using extend on shocking grasp, it does nothing to improve it.

Stack metamagic is a 3rd party feat, make sure that is ok with your GM.

But let's focus on what appears to be the real issue. Extend spell does nothing for shocking grasp. You cannot lengthen the duration of an instantaneous spell.

The metamagic feat you do want is intensify.

If you apply a +1 metamagic to a spell twice with that feat and have magical lineage, it uses a 2nd level spell slot, and you would need a level 2 pearl of power to recall it.

I meant to say intensify, sorry got the wrong word. Though how Magical Lineage is worded it sounded more like it would still be a level one spell. However on stack metamagic I didn't know it was a 3rd party feat, I don't think I will be able to use it lol.

This is how you do the math.

1) Take the original spell level. Add metamagic feats to it and calculate the spell level it occupies now.

2) Subtract 1 for your magical lineage trait.

It's pretty straitforward, you apply the trait once her spell, not once per feat.
