Skinwalker changes in Inner Sea Races

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Why did Scalehearts get their ability modifiers changed? Str/Con has wider applications, but Str/Int was a really rare combination and really good for certain specific classes in a way that was hard to pull off. I feel like the new stat distribution is really boring. Suddenly instead of a nonstandard magii, blade adept, investigator, slayer et al we just have another generic str/con monster race barbarian or fighter or whatever.

Ragebred to a similar degree, but given their old stats the change isn't as extreme and doesn't as radically alter their class choices.

I get why Nightskulks got nerfed, distraction was completely insane the way it was and undoubtably the single best racial in the entire game, though I feel the change goes too far the other way and makes the ability kind of completely awful. One save per round on an ability with a weak DC and an unimpressive effect even if it succeeds just means you'll probably always take the other dex/int rat race if that's what you're looking for. Unless you really really want scent.

Losing the charisma penalty in beast form and the limit on shifts per day seems good to me, the latter was especially pointless since shifting had no duration anyways.

No FCBs or ARTs being added is kind of a shame.

If your PC isn't for PFS, there's a whole bunch of favored class bonuses, racial feats, and character traits from 3PP's John Brazer and Wayfinder on the d20pfrsrd.com skinwalkers page.

Edit: And JBE just released Advanced Skinwalkers with a bunch more new stuff in it. (I have it but haven't read it yet.)
