Elemental arcane schools

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

The Advanced Player Guide introduced Elemental Arcane schools, and Chapter 5 listed the spells that were available (at the time of publication) to be used as bonus spells for each element. However this list does not appear to have been updated, since the APG despite a wide range of official spells being subsequently published such as those in Advanced Class Guide and Ultimate Magic. For example, Stone Discus (pg 196 of ACG) has a [earth] descriptor, but is not on the list for an earth elementalist.

Is there any intention to update this list in future products or have I missed one in which it has already been done? Or was it the game designers intention that a relevant descriptor would lead to inclusion as an official bonus spell for each of the elements. (My DM is OCD about sticking to canon - frustrating sometimes but he is the only game in town currently).

There haven't been any updates to the spell lists, and elemental descriptors don't let you add new spells to the lists. This has come up a lot recently because the Sha'ir Occultists gets access to those spell lists. They did add the Wood and Metal elementalist schools in Ultimate Magic.

Most likely there won't be either, because paizo doesn't want to invalidate older printings(though they still do that anyway).

The upside of this is that no spells have been added to your opposition schools either. So if you are an Air Elementalist, for example, the older acid spells like Acid Splash are on your opposition list but newer spells like Corrosive Touch aren't.
