Vital Strike

Can vital strike be used with ranged weapons like crossbow, bow, musket, etc.

Because i am build in a character in a campaign that is using a heavy repeating crossbow and was hoping to use the vital strike feats for extra dmg.

You may indeed use Vital Strike with ranged weapons. ^_^

If this path is of interest to you, also consider taking the Bullseye Shot feat.

Just mind you that Vital Strike can only be used with the standard Attack action. You can't use it for a Full-Attack or any other source of attacks besides the standard Attack action.

However, you can combine it with a readied action, which can work well with a crossbowman fighter. It's never going to outdamage a full attack, but it can be effective despite that, especially when readying to disrupt a spell.

You might be better off using manyshot instead.

You can't use manyshot with a crossbow.

Check out Artilery Team . It should be pretty cool with a ranged vital strike build however it sort of requires a Valet Familiar.

Only time it adds extra damage is if you would normally get 1 attack. Like after you move.

So really Vital strike is good with a BIG damage weapon...like a T-Rex with a massive Bite getting x2 weapon damage and a Grab.

Eldritch Guardian will stack with Crossbowman. With a monkey familiar you could get something serviceable out of this. Not great, but serviceable. And you would forever go down as the person who made a Crossbowman Fighter useful.

Crossbowman Fighter 7 / Unchained Rogue x is useful even without the monkey. Not optimal, but you will have one big hit that debuffs the enemy for the whole team.
